Why Mike Castle won't endorse Christine O'Donnell

"Delaware is a close community of people who find practical solutions to the complex challenges we face.

That characteristic is something that makes our state a very special place to live.

I look forward to continuing to serve our state as your Congressman in the remaining months of my term in a principled manner; Delawareans deserve no less." - Mike Castle

Hmm... "in a principled manner; Delawareans deserve no less," is the statement from the congressman who will not endorse his primary opponent Christine O'Donnell of the Republican Tea Party.

Delawareans deserve no less than a "principled manner" is what Mike said. Quite clearly, Mike Castle was explaining why he would not endorse Christine O'Donnell. It is because her manner was and is unprincipled:

"Castle said he would not endorse O'Donnell because of "personal smears" against him during the campaign. An O'Donnell aide raised questions about Castle's sexuality, and O'Donnell herself called him "unmanly" and told him to "get your man-pants on." 1

The name-calling, slander and distortions 2 of her opponent's record continues in Chrsitine O'Donnell's general election campaign against Democrat Chris Coons. "Weirdo", "anti-American", "Marxist"and "lap dog" are all names O'Donnell has used to refer to her opponent Chris Coons.

O'Donnell is distorting Coons record of financial responsibility as twice-elected Executive of New Castle County. O'Donnell, for her part, has never held a position in governement, not at any level.

Coons has indicated his intentions to keep the campaign about the issues facing the people of Delaware.

" When it comes down to it, Delaware voters know this election isn't about witchcraft, Marxism, pets, personal finances, or any of the myriad distractions that are filling the hours on cable news.

It's about you. It's about your family. It's about your neighbors.

It's about the important issues confronting Delaware as we head into an uncertain future. Issues like creating jobs in our communities while strengthening the economy of our nation. It's about ensuring all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care, that our kids go to the best schools and that our governments are run with balanced budgets.

The Tea Party has already dumped more than $2 million into my opponent's coffers, but no matter how much money the Tea Party pours into our state to smear my record of fiscal responsibility, I'm not going to stop talking about the issues that truly matter.
