Important TR Events In History:

On April 27, 1900, TR gave a speech in Galena, Ill., saying, "It is character that counts in a nation as in a man."
On May 2, 2001, Theodore Roosevelt III, grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt, died at the age of 86.
On July 1, 1898, TR fought in the battle of San Juan Heights.
On July 4, 1886, TR gave a speech in Dickinson, Dakota Territory saying, “"It is not what we have that will make us a great nation; it is the way in which we use it.”
On July 14, 1918, TR's son Quentin is killed in France. He was a fighter pilot.
On July 27, 1904, TR made his presidential acceptance address at Oyster Bay, New York, saying, "I am deeply sensible of the high honor conferred upon me by the representatives of the Republican party assembled in convention, and I accept the nomination for the presidency with solemn realization of the obligations I assume."
