2008 Recipient
“Alec Roy”

Alec has lived in Nahant all his live and graduated from the Johnson Elementary School, Swampscott Middle and High Schools. He has been accepted into the Communications Media Program at Fitchburg State College where he plans to major in Film Production.

Alec has been active in scouting for 12 years, first as a Cub Scout in Pack 50 and then in Boy Scout Troup 50. As a scout, he learned to appreciate the outdoors and nature. He loves camping and hiking. Among the aims of scouting are to instill the ideals of good citizenship and promote character development. He tried to live up to these ideals by volunteering for a variety of community service projects such as the Nahant Beach Clean Up and helping out on numerous Eagle projects organized by other boy scouts. He just completed his own Eagle Project: collecting and disposing of tires scattered on the Lynn side of the causeway.

As a youngster, he enjoyed team sports (soccer, baseball, basketball, karate). When he got into high school he became interested in other activities such as skateboarding, skim boarding, sailing, guitar playing and writing music. While in High School, he had a newspaper route after school and now works at Stop and Shop most afternoons and evenings. He helped out at the annual SHS Cable Club Auction Fundraiser for the past two years and has helped film sporting and cultural events for the school.

Congratulations and good luck Alec!
