Cheap Toys were released by Topps in 1986. The hard plastic, approximately 1.5" tall toy figures could be purchased in tiny green trash bags accompanied by a small wafer of Crummy Candy and a tiny checklist.

There were ten characters in total taken from the first three series of Garbage Pail Kid cards and included in the Cheap Toys and Crummy Candy toyline as figures. According to the checklist, their names are Adam Bomb, Crater Chris, Graffiti Petey, Thin Lynn, Brainy Janey, Leaky Lindsay, Double Heather, Brett Sweat, Muggin' Megan, and Alice Island.

The figures could be found in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and elsewhere in the basic colors Red, Blue, Green, and Peach. However, serious collectors have noted that there are an absolute abundance of colors beyond these four basic colors. Furthermore, collectors have also noted that the availability of these beyond-the-basic colors seem to vary as well. Namely, sculpts in these extra colors all appear to be harder to come by. On top of that, collectors have noted that 1st series Cheap Toys can be found in an array of platics as well, ranging from soft and rubbery, to hard and near-brittle, solid and opaque to transluscent and quasi-transluscent!
