Portraits: Faces and Profiles of Utility                                                   (Images)

Growing up on a small family farm in Northwest Iowa, I admit a personal affinity for the landscape there shaped by the farms it supports. But, like growing up, change is inevitable. This is about my little corner of the world from where I come, shaped by many small farms that for the most part now seem to be a much different place.

These are my own personal icons; surrogate symbols  - whose form suggests its meaning.

I'm interested in photographing a kind of poetry of the city sidewalk. These pictures explore what I see in its bits and pieces, sacred and profane, specific and universal. This is an open ended record of artifacts, my artifacts, unscripted sidewalk prose, formulated from the surfaces of spaces.

Sometimes, the whole points to more than the sum of its parts.
