The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Walkthrough
The following is a walkthrough for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. To begin a game, select a file from the start screen and name yourself and your horse. You may then start the game.
I. To the Twilight
A. Rounding up the goats
a. The game will start with you talking to someone named Rusl about a delivery to Hyrule Castle. After some talking, you will spawn in front of your house. You must then find Epona, so go back the way you came to a spring. Ilia will be there with her. Once you get Epona, go through town to a ranch owned by Fado. Round his goats up, and you will go to sleep.
B. Some random tasks
a. First, after you wake up, go to the village and talk to someone in front of a house. He complains about bees. Go to some vines and climb up them. Jump a platform to some grass where you may call down a hawk to defeat the bee's nest.
b. Go to the pregnant lady by the river. Her cradle has been stolen by a monkey. Go back to the Hawk grass and jump onto a roof, and to more platforms. You can see that monkey now, can't you? Call upon the hawk using this grass and steal the cradle from him. Return to the lady. She asks you to go to her house. Do so, and you'll got the fishing rod!
c. Now you must make a cat very happy. Go to a dock with a cat next to it. Fish from there. When you catch a fish, you have to catch another. The cat will grab it and dash like a tiger to its house. Go there. The owner will say the cat caught the fish, but you know better. She'll give you your first empty bottle.
d. The slingshot is for sale. Wander around town smashing everything until you get 30 rupees. Then buy it.
e. Impress the kids. Go show them your slingshot. They'll be so impressed. But they'll be even more impressed when you go inside your house and find a sword, and then show them. But Talo runs after a monkey.
f. Follow Talo on Epona. When there is an enemy in the way, go left and recieve a lantern from the guy sitting there. Then defeat the enemy and press on. Go through this cave, illuminated by your lantern, and when you reach outside, go to the most Northwest corner you can. There is a chest (key) and some lanterns to light; do so, and a chest will appear with a piece of Heart. There is another red spot on your map; go there to find Talo and the monkey in a cage. Destroy the cage bars and the enemies. They will be saved.
g. Round up the goats once more. When you leave, Ilia will complain and take your horse away. Go to the Ordon Spring to find it barred. Go around the side to a cave in which you can go through. All too abruptly, some Bulbins smash through the gate and capture everyone but you. You run after them, but find a giant, black, wall thing. You are grabbed and transformed into a wolf.
II. Escaping your Imprisonment
A. The dungeons
a. You will awaken in a cell, chained to the floor. You'll have control for a moment and then someone will be outside of your cell; Midna. She releases you from your chains but you must use spin attack on the pile of wood and then dig out to escape your cell.
b. Midna will ride you. Go to the other cell and grab the chain by jumping at it. Continue through the passage.
c. You will find a spirit. (Spirits are people that are in the Twilight; they do not realize they are spirits) Use your sense view to see it. It's a soldier. Continue through the passage and you'll face some Twilit Vermin. At the end of each short passage there will be a chain, normally opening a small chamber but one will raise the water level so that you can swim over some certain spikes in your way.
d. After you've swam over the spikes you can go to the barred wall ahead and Midna will leave you for a short time. But there is a way to lower the water level and continue. Grab the chains again and one will raise the water level. Then you can dig to the left of the barred wall in what was once submerged. Continue through that passage until Midna drops on you again...
B. Stairs and a roof
a. You now must climb stairs. Easy? Nothing can be easy. Try to jump across the first gap and you'll fail. Midna will help you jump there. If you simply continue to walk up the stairs, occasionally jumping alone and occasionally jumping with Midna you'll do fine. When you reach the top you'll find you need to climb rocks on the right side with Midna.
b. Journey across the roof, meeting a spirit or so... but push the block up to the wall and then climb it and jump to the next platform. This area is infested with Twilit Kargorks so keep an eye out. Continue on the path until you reach a dead end, then walk onto a small wooden platform to the right, and Midna will help you jump across. Continue on this roof (center to avoid falling) and dodge the Twilit Kargorks; they're too hard to fight in such little space. When you reach an opening enter it and fall down onto the stairs below. Continue up the stairs.
Midna knows this person somehow... who could they be? This person explains how this place... Hyrule Castle came to fall under Twilight... the Twilit Messengers invaded and defeated the soldiers... and then the Twilight King himself comes out... Hyrule Castle... surrendered... This person; how do they know? She is Princess Zelda. The guard comes, and you must leave. Attempt to escape and Midna will help.
III. Saving Faron Province
A. Getting a Sword and Shield
a. Shield: Midna wants you to find her a sword and shield. Go to Ordon Village. There has been a commotion... the kids are gone. Find Bo. He'll be talking about the shield with someone. Apparently it's in the house's loft. They'll see you as a wolf and run... you need to use Midna and jump into the house. When you try to find a Midna jump place someone will start using a Hawk against you. IT HURTS RUN. But if you use Midna jump at a certain place behind him you can sneak up on him and you'll scare him off. Use Midna to jump into the house and then get onto the table. Use Midna to jump again and ram into the wall twice to get the Ordon Shield.
b. Sword: Go to Rusl's house but do not go in the front you'll scare him and he'll bat you away with a flame. Go to the right side and use senses to find a dig spot into the house and then go and grab the sword.
B. Saving Ordana: Run toward the Twilight, but you'll be stopped by the spirit of the spring. Enter the spring and a portal will open and a Twilight Messenger will fall. Defeat it quickly and Ordana will reveal himself and tell you about the Light Spirits. Then go to the Twilight.
C. Faron, Spirit of Light
a. After you've entered the Twilight, continue forward for a warp portal to open and Twilight Messengers to fall. Try to defeat them, but one will shriek and revive the other two. Midna will then help you with a new move. They'll be defeated. Continue forward and talk to Faron. He'll tell you of the Insects of Darkness and mark them on your map.
b. Go to the places on the map with dots. You'll find the Insects there. Each time you defeat one you'll get a Tear of Light, and when you get all of them the province will return back to normal. At the house you'll find that you'll need to bang into a wall to get one off the side of the house and go into the house via jump on the left side. You can dig on the right side of the fence. When faced by purple smoke look to the left of the main bridge for a place Midna will find acceptable for a jump. You'll face Twilight Messengers before you're done. Simply follow the dots; it's not that hard.
IV. Getting to The Forest Temple
A. After you've saved Faron, head over to the guy who gave you the lantern. He'll give you the gate key. He'll also offer you a 100 rupee deal on a bottle with oil in it. Take it; if you can't, then run around and find rupees to do so! You need this bottle. When faced with the purple smoke again, pull out your lantern and a monkey will take it. Follow the monkey and defeat any enemy that stands in your way. When you finally excape the purple fog take your [empty] Lantern back and continue forth to a white wolf. It's not an enemy; it transforms into Hero's Shade, who teaches you secret skills. (but you attack him first just to prove that you're not skilled) Listen well to him... when you see a stone that whistles, howl to it with your wolf form... Continue and burn the spider web to enter the Forest Temple.
V. The Forest Temple
A. Getting to the Miniboss
a. After you enter, continue forward until you see the monkey in the cage. Rescue it from its prison, and defeat the spiders nearby on the wall. Climb the vines they were guarding, then enter the next room. b. Continue forward onto the central platform and light the torches there with your lantern. Some platforms will rise, allowing you to reach a treasure chest (the dungeon map), and the door to the next room. c. The Miniboss will come into the room and destroy the bridge you were about to use. You have no choice but to return to the previous room... d. The monkey will now grab a rope, and you can jump into the monkey's arms and swing until you can be thrown to the other door, which you should enter. e. Continue right and use a bombling to destroy the wall. Then you can break pots to find Oocoo, who will help you exit the dungeon at any time and return. Now take the left side and burn the spider web with your lantern. Defeat the Deku Baba and the spiders to the left on the vines. Defeat the skulltulla and enter the door to the north. Run across the platform to the door (the chest is a key) return to the room you came from with the water. Enter the door to the West in there (which requires a key). You need to save this monkey as well. Despite the bridge breaking, roll into the tower until the monkey is released. Then defeat the Bokoblins. Use the monkeys like you did before to jump over what was the bridge, and enter the door. f. Return to the room where you first monkey-jumped, with the torches in the center. Now you can monkey-jump to the other side. Burn the web and enter the next room. g. Go up the stairs and grab the bomb and throw it into the deku-like that is hidden under the platform, and it will no longer stop you from jumping over, which you should do now. Jump onto the vines now, and climb up. (You can, if you want to, use a bomb to destroy the deku-like below and get the Piece of Heart it was blocking access to). Then use the bomb to destroy the rock that was blocking your way. Enter the door. h. Roll into the nearby tower to get a chest with a key. Cross the bridge, but watch out for the evil tiles. Light all the torches to make a stairway to the monkey, and save the monkey by defeating the skulltulla. Return to the previous room. Enter the south door on top of the platform. i. There's a "Big Baba" here, but it's not the miniboss *sigh* slice its head several times until it gets cut off and throw a bomb into the strange thing that remains where the big baba was. Get the key and rescue the monkey. j. Return to the room with four torches where you used the first monkey jump, and enter the north door. Use the four monkeys to monkey jump to the miniboss.
B. Miniboss: Ook Ook uses the Gale Boomerang to attack, which is conveniently the item you get from him. After he throws the boomerang, roll into the tower he's on. The boomerang will hit him and you'll be able to attack him directly with your sword. After you repeat this process a couple times, the bug on his head will fall off and he'll flee. However he'll forget his Gale Boomerang, and you can pick it up. After you get it, use it to hit the switch above the door to exit.
You got the Gale Boomerang! This unique item houses the fairy of winds. You can use it to grab items from afar, or hit switches from a distance! You can even use it to blow things away!
C. Getting to the Boss
a. After leaving Ook's room, go West to the platforms there. You can hit the spinners on top with the Gale Boomerang to change the platform's direction. Then use the Gale Boomerang to save the monkey atop the pillar. Go South and use the Boomerang on the second platform.(You can get another Piece of Heart at this point by returning to the room with the evil tiles. Blow out the torcehes in that room to reveal the chest)
b. Return to the central room with the torches. You can use the boomerang to sever the strands holding up a chest to get the compass. Also, blow out the torches then use a bomb to destroy a rock with a chest with 20 rupees inside it. Then go through the west exit.
c. Go to the west side of the room and use the Boomerang on the spinners atop the pillars. Follow the backwards Z design on the floor; it tells you the order to hit them in. The chest with the boss key will be revealed. Go through the North exit.
d. Go across to the door, and use the boomerang on the spinner on the platform. Go to the North, then leave and go through the east exit.
e. Use the lantern on the web in floor to the left and fall through; you'll be able to save a monkey. Return the monkey to the northern room and use the boomerang to move the platforms and go on them. Climb the vines after defeating the spiders on them that you can, and leave through the east exit. Defeat the enemies in this room, then use your boomerang to target the bomblings, then the obstacles in the room. By the end you should have another monkey and key.
f. Return to the room south of where the monkeys gather. Go through the west exit in that room. Go to the north side and climb the vines. rescue the monkey and grab a chest with rupees. Return to where the monkeys gather, and then they will help you do one super monkey jump to the boss room.
D. Boss: Twilit Parasite Diababa First target the bomblings then one of the two heads. After doing that to both of the heads, they will return with a third, larger head. If you wait for a bit, Ook will appear with a bombling, and you can use those bomblings to hit the small heads' again. After they are out of the way, you should hit the large head with those bomblings, and strike the eye-tounge-thing when it falls over. Then again, you could just hit the big head once instead of the smaller heads... When it's over, you'll get what Midna was after: a Fused Shadow. And you get a prize too: a Heart Container! When you've gotten all that, go through the portal and leave.
