How to become a Cadet.

Cadet program is generally a two year program that will teach you all you will need to know to become a Football Official.

No experience necessary since this is a comprehensive program that will involve Class room activity, on field instruction and study activity for the State Test.

They meet at the Egg Harbor Township High School on Mondays from September into November.

E-mail the Secretary John Rapp or Cadet Supervisor Greg Fletcher for more information. Email link on left side of this page.

Note from the Cadet Supervisor, Greg Fletcher:

Gentlemen,

Let me be the first to congratulate you for your interest in becoming a NJFOA Football Official. The NJFOA Atlantic Chapter is one of the elite football organizations in New Jersey. The Atlantic Chapter teaches a 2 year cadet program which after the 2nd year you will qualify to take the state exam and become a registered football official. Only a registered football official can officiate High School Varsity Football Games.

In the meantime during the cadet program, you will be able to officiate H.S. Sub-Varsity games and County League Games (kids) as many as you would like. The more field experience you receive the better official you become.

Cadet classes will start on August 25th at Egg Harbor Township High School at 7pm. and runs to Nov. 17th for the 1st year cadets and December 13th for the 2nd year cadets. Meetings are generally held on Monday evenings from 7 - 9 pm with few exceptions. We will meet behind the school near the tennis courts. At this time we will go over registrations, uniforms, league fees cadet requirements. There will also be a short class on general field mechanics if time permits.

Cadets must submit a non-refund able fee of $100.00 check or money order payable to NJFOA Atlantic Chapter. This fee covers Rule Book, Case Book, Officials Manual, Insurance to and from during games, State Exam Fee and Local Association dues. To start the class a $30.00 deposit is required to obtain books. The balance is payable within 2 weeks of start of class.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me by e-mail or telephone after 5pm at (609) 780-2248

Thank You,
Greg Fletcher
