These are some of my short stories and the poems I wrote for our poetry group.
13 Measurable Minutes
This is a poem inspired by the not-always-humanly rewarding job search. I was about 22 at the time and looking for my first "real" job. I liked the idea of lambasting the resume, which is a staple of the professional job search.

Everything Comes Back in a Small Comic Book Shop
I was in Bridgeton one afternoon for work and I stopped in an old comic book shop that I used to go to once in a while as a teenager, when I first started driving. I liked how the old man who ran the place talked to me; I felt like a young man in a scene from a bygone era.

How to Let Go
The town where I grew up used to be known for glass and brick due to the silica sand that blankets the ground. There are some old sand pits out in the piney forests behind my parents' house that are quite a sight to see. The wind does some wild and beautiful things to wide-open spaces. This is my favorite kind of turning in: the humbling power of nature.
