Peacemaking Offering
“And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations” (Revelation 22:2)This year’s Peacemaking Offering theme is taken from a verse in the book of Revelation. The verse is part of a larger description of John's vision of the new Jerusalem. One of the images John uses is the tree of life, with its twelve kinds of fruit and leaves that are to be used for the healing of all the nations of the world. It is an image of a world at peace, with enough for everyone to eat and the “medicine” to heal all the wounds and illnesses of humankind. We live in the hope of that vision of peace and well-being expressed so vividly in the tree of life. The Peacemaking Offering is a tool of our efforts to live and work within that hope. We will be receiving the Peacemaking Offering today. Please note on your envelope if your gift is to be used for the Peacemaking offering.

Food Bank Workers Needed
Our food bank is one of North Church’s Missions in the Lansing Area. The Food Bank Pantry here at North Church dates back many years. Every Friday from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm, food is packaged and distributed to those in need. A great big thank you goes out to all of the faithful workers who have helped throughout the years! We could really use some more volunteers for this important mission. If you could help by setting aside one Friday every month or two to help, it would be greatly appreciated. John Lewis could also use help picking up the food orders on Wednesday mornings. If you can’t help on Fridays, but have Wednesday mornings open, we could sure use help bringing the orders into the church! Please call the church office at 482-0336 to volunteer, or with any questions.

Adult Sunday School
The Adult Sunday School class will officially start Sunday, October 7th at 11:30 a.m. The first session will be a review and conclusion of the series “Developing Your Shape to Serve Others”. We will also have books available for our “Through the Bible” series which will start the next week. All adults are encouraged to come both to learn and contribute. See you there!

Cinnamon Rolls Fundraiser
The choirs will be having another Cinnamon Roll Fundraiser to raise money for music, and instrument tuning, cleaning, and repair. Chancel and Bell choir members will begin taking orders on Sunday, October 14th. They will be selling the rolls by the dozen for $10, or half-dozen for $6. Rolls can be picked up on Saturday, November 3rd, or Sunday, November 4th. The choirs could use extra help making the rolls on Saturday the 3rd. They will be working in three shifts: 7am-11am; 11am-3pm; and 3pm-7pm. If you can help, please see Kathy.

13th Annual Home Tour
Advent House Ministries will sponsor the 13th Annual Westside Home Tour on Sunday, October 14, 2007 from 1:00p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This wonderful event will feature six of the Westside neighborhood homes plus the historical Fire Station #7. The proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the Advent House Ministries and the Westside Neighborhood Association. Tickets for the tour are $15.00 each; Visa, MasterCard, and Discover accepted (only for advance purchase by phone through the Advent House Office), or at Relish, 208A West Grand River Ave., Lansing. For more information, or to purchase tickets, contact Advent House Ministries (485-4722). Tickets will be available on the day of the event at Firehouse #7, on the corner of Jenison and Saginaw.

Meals on Wheels Helpers Needed
The Tri-County Office on Aging is in desperate need of volunteers to help with the Greater Lansing Meals on Wheels Program. This is a non-profit program that depends entirely on volunteers to deliver meals.
If you have the ability, one day per month, to deliver meals between 12:00pm and 1:00pm, they can use your help! For more information, please contact Kathy Giganti at 887-1460, or visit them on the web at www.tcoa.org.

These Days Devotionals
The new “These Days” devotionals for October through December are now available at the back of the sanctuary. A donation box is also located next to the books. Any donations to help defray the cost of the books are greatly appreciated.

Like To Play Cribbage?
Cribbage is played right here at North Church on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to join in the fun, so please come on down and bring a friend!
