It wasn't always sunny skies for Lyle Lundberg and Matt Miller, the Fathers of The Windjammer!
It all started with a lot of tinkering and experimentation....
Of course a day of sailing is not to be had without an occasional crash. This is one of the RCWindjammer strengths since most crashes are virtually harmless due to it's unique and simple assembly process.
This looks bad!
But a quick walk and a twist of the wrist later....
Although The RCWindjammer has proven to be relatively crash proof, as higher speeds are being reached weight for stability has been developed. We are looking into a new sail material to accommodate the quirky winds in the Colorado Rockies. More on that later!
Lyle has been experimenting with a fixed wing sail for the sometimes high winds generated this time of year at the beach. This is also a good shot of the first protective nose.
Several body versions later (and a lot of practice with the injector setup) and this beauty has emerged!
You Can't Have Much More Fun Than This.
Soccer - RCWindjammer Style!
Fun for the whole family.
Here are some classic starts on conventional sailing regattas. Count from ten to
one and cross the starting line, tack upwind and round the buoy, race downwind to another buoy and then reach to the next and
back again, then home for the resounding sound of a winning whistle!
Approaching the downwind marker, Lyle's RCWindjammer reaches maximum speed while under perfect control and a tight-rope
maximum heel. Good show Lyle!
With the addition of the Lexan body a RCWindjammer emerges unharmed after a high speed tip.
The world is waking up to this new sport/hobby - we are working with a distributor in South Africa, Singapore, Australia, Scotland and Ireland. As you probably know from looking at the dealer list at www.rcsailcars.com we have enthusiastic wholesalers in Switzerland, Germany and the UK.
