The photo further down this page may or may not be paranormal. In fact, it probably is more a matter of visual perception, but sometimes when I look at the enlarged version I see the outline or shadow of a face. Other times, I can't see a thing. Either way, it is interesting enough to post here. Dr. Henry Rinehart purchased the declining Wheeler Hotel in 1940 and operated it as the Rinehart Clinic, which became well known as a facility for the treatment of arthiritis. Patients in hotel rooms on the upper floor of the building while receiving treatments on the first floor and basement. The clinic eventually offered all forms of medical services until it closed its doors around 1980. The building changed hands several times after that, finally re-opening as the Old Wheeler Hotel in 1998. Below is a photo of the Rinehart Clinic staff from the Wheeler Hotel website, ca 1940s-1950s.
All of the photos below were taken by NorthwestHauntings staff. Below is an enlarged section of a photo taken by NorthwestHauntings staff. In the upper left-hand section of the picture frame, reflections or wipe marks from cleaning sometimes make the noted area appear to be a face. I thought that face looked a lot like Eleanor Bangs (above), one of the nurses at the Rinehart Clinic in its early days. Maybe Eleanor found her time working there as a good time in her life, and chooses to 'return' from time to time.... The questionable photo is followed by a "control" version where camera flash was used, as well as the two original photos before enlargement. Photo (1) - Questionable section of photo is enlarged, cropped, and outlined. This web copy has been reduced in pixel size for upload and NorthwestHauntings watermark added. No other enhancements or changes have been made.
Photo (2) - Control version of above with flash used. Same section of photo is enlarged, cropped, and outlined. This web copy has been reduced in pixel size for upload and NorthwestHauntings watermark added. No other enhancements or changes have been made.
Photos (3) and (4) - Original full photos before cropping and enlarging. These web copies have been reduced in pixel size for upload and NorthwestHauntings watermarks added. No other enhancements or changes have been made. No flash used:
