Fire Chief Search

Norwich operates under a Town Manager form of government. The Fire Chief is appointed by and reports to the Town Manager. The Town Manager is appointed by and reports to a 5 member elected Selectboard. The town budget is approved at an annual town meeting held in March of each year.

The Fire Department has operated with a volunteer fire chief since it was formed in 1920. There have been six fire chiefs since 1920 including the current chief who was appointed on January 1, 2007. The FY08 budget, as approved by town meeting, includes monies for a full-time fire chief effective July 1, 2007.  The town manager is currently advertising for a full-time fire chief.
