In 1999, Jason Love began his first
season as Music Director of the Columbia Orchestra, a resident ensemble
at Howard Community College. Mr. Love brings to Columbia a wealth of experience
including the Music Directorship of the New Horizons Chamber Ensemble,
a contemporary music group which, in five short years based in Baltimore,
has gained a national reputation for excellence.
As an educator, Mr. Love serves as Artistic Director of the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra Association, in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex Campus, and was conductor of the Chesapeake Youth Repertory Orchestra in Annapolis, Maryland for four seasons. As an eight year faculty member of the Governor's School of North Carolina, he has enabled over five hundred students to perform challenging twentieth century music in a summer program for academically gifted high school students. Mr. Love received Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Peabody Conservatory where he studied conducting with Frederik Prausnitz and violoncello with Ronald Thomas. He was the 1994 recipient of the Harold S. Randolph Award in Musicianship and Performance. |
