Kristina Suter earned a DMA degree from the University of Maryland (College Park) with her dissertation, "The Four Unpublished Piano Sonatas of Charles Griffes: A Performance Edition" with editorial notes, and a recording of "The Five Sonatas."
Her principal teacher for the study was Roy Hamlin Johnson.
Her masters degree is from Michigan State University where she studied with Ralph Votapek, and her Bachelor of Music is from Mansfield University in Pennsylvania where she was coached by Angeline Schmid.
She received a Piano Teacher Grant from Jordan Kitt's Music and she was a gold medalist in the 1987 International Recording Competition.
Dr. Suter has had diverse experience in performance, including the Festival of American Music, the Viva Mozart Concert, the American Series, and the Mansfield College Community Orchestra. One of two full-time music faculty members at Howard Community College, she teaches music theory, piano classes, applied piano, and an introduction to electronic music. Also, she assists as the staff accompanist. She maintains a private studio in Ellicott City, and performs as a solo and duet pianist. |
