Adren R. Nance


Mr. Nance was admitted to the New Mexico Bar on September 30, 2002,  has held the position of Socorro County Attorney for seven years, and currently serves as County Attorney for Sierra, Socorro, and Valencia Counties.  As County Attorney, he has developed a close relationship with the County Commissioners, the County Managers, other elected officials, staff and employees of the Counties.  He has represented Socorro, Sierra and Valencia Counties in legal actions, drafted contracts, ordinances, resolutions, advised the County on policy and employment matters, as well as had opportunity to advise the County on matters concerning the day to day operation of the County, including Open Meetings, Personnel, Land Use, County Roads and Easements, Contracts/Joint Powers Agreements, Subdivisions, Procurement, Tort Claims and Liability, Sheriff Department/Law Enforcement Considerations, Waste Management, Detention Center, Civil Rights Issues, Sovereign Immunity, Budget/DFA, and Voting.  Additionally, Adren has served as vice-president of the New Mexico Association of County Attorneys Affiliate, and has developed a close working relationship with the New Mexico Association of Counties Insurance Authority.   

Mr. Nance has also drafted and has assisted the Commissions in enacting numerous County ordinances for Socorro, Sierra and Valencia Counties, including personnel policy ordinances, gross receipts tax ordinances, rural addressing ordinance, rural airport ordinance, rural addressing ordinance, waste disposal ordinance, detention center ordinance, and land use ordinance.   Additionally, Mr. Nance has been instrumental in drafting  a telecommunications siting ordinances, an animal control ordinance, and a zoning ordinance for Valencia County.  Mr. Nance’s experiences as County Attorney for Socorro, Sierra and Valencia Counties have provided him with valuable insight into the operations and management of a rural county.

Mr. Nance grew up in a ranching and farming family and assists in managing his family’s cattle ranch north of Magdalena, New Mexico.
