January, 2005
Welcome to the Hoghton American Association—Friends of Hoghton Tower programme. You will be joining a society whose aims link the USA to the UK with a special purpose of connecting you to historic Hoghton Tower, its geographic locality, and the de Hoghton family.
Your Regional Coordinator will be responsible for collecting your annual subscription which stands at $25, and since we are (in January 2005) about to enter the third year of the Association's short life, if you wish you can send 2 years' subscription ($50) against which the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust will send the two years collection of valuable information. This will include a copy of the current official guide book and a useful information leaflet giving you directional information, should you plan to come over to visit the house; A Short History of Hoghton by the late Rev. J. Shortt, vicar of Hoghton in the late 1800's; our current information leaflet to help your adventure in coming to see the house in 2005/06; and finally a leather book mark depicting various elements and symbols of the Tower together with a selection of postcards to send to your friends.
Naturally there will be plenty of possibilities of increasing your knowledge of our locality, etc., and how you all fit in with the family and this the third house on the site, both through shop purchases and hopefully visits in future years.
2005 beckons you to discover the 950 years of history on this hill.
My best regards,
Yours sincerely,
Sir Bernard de Hoghton Bt., DL
Chairman
