The stately home is now part of a fully authorized and recognised Charitable Trust, founded in 1978 and known as the Hoghton Tower Preservation trust (HTPT, Registered Charity No. 508357), whose Trustees have recently obtained the necessary permission to access tax deductible donations from American citizens via the Charities Aid Foundation of America, CAF America.
The building works and associated costs for the Preservation and Restoration of a 16c fortified Historic House are demanding and expensive, as you can imagine, and with no Endowment or Foundation, the Trust has to depend upon the resources it can raise itself and upon generously given donations and grants.
