Northwest ARDS Survivors Barbecue
August 11,
2002 On a
beautiful, sunny August afternoon, ARDS survivors from Western
Washington gathered at Dr. Steve and Lynn Yarnall's home on the
shores of Lake Ballinger in Edmonds, Washington to eat, canoe, swim
(well, Andre swam) and share experiences. Dr. Ken Steinberg of
University of Washington's Harborview Medical Center joined us, and
we benefited a great deal from his wealth of knowledge. A
great time was had by all, and we plan on getting together again
before the end of the year. Click

Japanese exchange student Ryotaro, and ARDS survivor Kathy Larson. |
Dr. Ken Steinberg (at
right, in pink shirt) explains the interesting story of how 150,000
came to be the number of ARDS cases per year, and how it just so
happens to be accurate! |
