Currently Washington State
is in the process of developing a WASL like
test for it's schools.
The state will recommend testing students for fitness and wellness by
using either the Physical Best test or the
Presidential's Fitness assessment in the year 2008.
Currently at Pioneer Elementary, we use elements of both tests for achieving
our fitness levels but we primarly test with the Presidential Fitness
test.
Our students are considered some of the fittest children in the state
if not the nation. In 2003, Pioneer won Washington State's Award for Physical
Fitness.
On average, about 40 percent of our children reach presidential levels.
According to National standards, 15 percent is considered good.
Last year out of about 350 children tested, 135 received Presidential Awards
and over half received national awards, the next step down from Presidential.
Pioneer Elementary steps into 2006 and beyond with the hope that educating
success in Physical Fitness will
lead to heathly and happy adult individuals.
