I
highly recommend that you use a good FTP client program to get these
videos. There are a number of good programs available for free or
very cheap. Check out FTP
Explorer
for one good program. Some folks have recommended WS_FTP,
which is available from www.FTPplanet.com
If you’re a computer novice, or just new to using FTP programs, check out this Click-by-Click Guide to Downloading Ofra Haza Videos, written by David.

Alert:
If you are using Windows XP and a firewall program, and are having trouble connecting to the FTP, it might be because XP's built-in rudimentary firewall is interfering with your other firewall program. The solution is to turn off XP's built-in firewall. Go to Control Panel - Network Connections. Right click on your internet connection and choose Properties - Advanced and deselect the top box (Protect my computer…).
Watching the Videos

Encoding:
Almost all the videos are encoded with the DivX 3.11a encoder
with MP3 sound, and to play them you will need a DivX codec installed
on your computer. There are three good ways to get one, all free.
You can get version 3.11a at http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html.
You can also get the more recent version 5 of DivX that will enable
you to play these and other DivX files at http://www.divx.com/divx/.
Get the Free (non-Pro) version, but do NOT install the player because
it contains spyware (during the installation, there is a place where
you can uncheck the player so it is not installed). The third alternative
is to install 3ivx, which you can get at http://www.3ivx.com/download/index.html.
There is no reason you
can't put all three of these versions on your computer if you wish.
(you can also find DivX installers on the FTP site, under "DivX
Tools")
Players:
Windows Media Player works great, as do many other multi-media programs.
Please Remember
- I’m using my own server, so it may go down fairly often.
- I can only allow 6 log-ins at a time, so if you can’t connect, please try again later.
- Bandwidth is limited (DSL connection limited to about 270 kbps upstream), please be patient!
- Make sure you don't "hammer" my FTP site. Set your FTP software to attempt to reconnect after at least 60 seconds, or your IP address, and possibly your entire ISP, will be banned. Currently, the entire University of Columbia is banned, along with a number of IP ranges in Yemen and the Netherlands.
- If you get a message telling you that you're "banned", fix your software settings and write to me to get "unbanned".
