Olaf's List o' Links
Welcome to the latest reincarnation of my web site. After @Home finally closed down its servers in late 2000, I decided I should at last do the redesign of my site that I'd been thinking about for the last year or so. As a result, I've been dabbling a bit in Dreamweaver. It's still very basic, but I've got this web site for the information it contains, it's not "l'art pour l'art".
For those of you who don't know me, here's a bit more info:
I was born in The Netherlands, where I did my Undergraduate Studies in Chemistry at the University of Nijmegen. I graduated with my Doctorandus degree (equal to M.S.) in '91. Following this, I did my National Service in the Royal Dutch Army as a gunner on a Leopard 2A4(NL) MBT from '92 to '93. In the summer of '93 I came to the USA, to pursue my Graduate Studies in Chemistry at Yale University, working for Professor Gary W. Brudvig. I received my Ph.D. in December 2000. During the '00-'01 and '01-'02 school years I have been a Science Teacher at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison, New Jersey. In the summer of '02 I moved back to Connecticut, and am now an Instructor of Science at Miss Porter's School in Farmington, CT.
For those of you who might possibly be interested (don't know why, but OK...), that's me at the left front, with the Science Department at Miss Porter's.
As far as modelling goes, I build almost exclusively 1/35 scale Post-WWII armour, courtesy of my vehicle recognition classes while in the army. I spend at least half my time reading about armour, its history, its use etc.
The image at the left top is a photo I took during a night fire exercise in The Netherlands, the background image is a scan of our squadron T-shirt (designed by one of the guys in the squadron), and orange and blue were our regimental colours.
For those of you who didn't come here for the modelling links, I do have other hobbies as well, as you can see from the "General" links section!
That's about it, if you have questions, email me.
Cheers,
Olaf
