Model photos
Ace MT-LB(6MA) in 1/72 scale. Tow cable is string, mounts are PE fret. All handles metal wire, locations based on photos from internet. Tracks toughest part to get to look right. Silver medal in Advanced at AMPS EAST 2004, silver at Granitecon 2004.
Skif D-30. Good for the dog pound. Fixed basic kit only. A lot of detail could be added, if so inclined; I only added the Model Point barrel. Finished as Croat piece. Bronze medal in Advanced at AMPS EAST 2004, bronze at Patcon 2004, bronze at Modelfest 2004, and gold at Granitecon 2004.
LEFT: PanzerShop BTR-60PB, finished in Syrian markings. Bronze medal in Advanced at AMPS 2004, second place at Noreastcon 2004, sliver at Modelfest 2004, sliver at Granitecon 2004. RIGHT: DML M46 with Eduard PE, Verlinden ammunition boxes and .50 cal. MG, Academy .30 cal. MG, MV lenses, and AFV Club tracks. Gold medal in Advanced at AMPS 2004, first place at Noreastcon 2004.
DML BMP-2, with ESCI turret. Replaced ESCI details on turret with DML ones, modified all for version without Kovriki armour. One missed item are the rear hull hatches, which should have been parallel to the center line, not the hull sides. Added Eduard PE, several Model Point items (see photos), and metal wire. Tracks are ATM, wheels, idler, and sprocket are PanzerShop. Finished as Kuwaiti vehicle from ODS. Still need to add exposed film for episcopes.
Roco 1/87 Faun Elefant. A challenge from one of our club members. Had to take the whole thing apart, and put it back together again after cleaning all the parts. Airbrushed with Tamiya XF-48, then camouflage added with Vallejo paints. Rather tiring job, but it looks good so far.
Academy Fitter kit. I'm detailing the interior, as you can see. I've remodelled the IDF stowage to provide interior pieces, and wired up the radio. Thanks to diagrams from Paul Fredenburg I'm also adding the hydraulics for the crane, as the kit piece doesn't even come close to representing it correctly. It's going to be finished as an Australian Fitter, probably an earlier OD version.
PanzerShop Dana 152 mm SPG on Tatra truck chassis. Complicated kit, slow going, but fun nonetheless. Nearly done with the second suspension unit since taking that photo. I hope to have it ready for AMPS 2005, but we'll see.
The inevitable "pile" and my airbrush setup. The construction desk, figures and accessories, finished models.
The other imperative part of this hobby: the references. The book case to the left contains mainly non-military related material, but the rest is all reference material.
