Natural Family Planning

Deacon Frank Golazeski

Natural family Planning, or NFP, is a 100% natural form of planning or postponing pregnancies that is completely scientific and as reliable -- or more reliable -- than common forms of artificial contraception other than surgical sterilization.

NFP is NOT the calendar method. The calendar method is drastically less reliable and is a process that tries to predict future cycle events based on past cycles. NFP is a statistically proven method to monitor the physical signs in the wife's body to determine when ovulation has occurred in order to best plan or postpone pregnancy.

NFP is in line with the natural law and Catholic Church moral teaching.

NFP makes sense. Artificial contraception is a means rejecting the gift of sexuality and in effect becomes a mean by which people use other people as objects for their own enjoyment. It is a means of saying to your spouse, "I love most but not all of you." NFP honors your spouse, yourself, God, and your vows to give yourself to your spouse totally, freely, exclusively, and fruitfully. You deserve that respect.
