Omegatron's Reef's

main

This is my third attempt at setting up a site with pictures displaying my devoted hobby. This time I will try and update pictures often. I have been keeping corals since February of 1999. That is not that long but my tanks have been doing good. My first tank was a 55 gallon freshwater I converted into a saltwater reef. In September of 1999 I set up my 120 gallon tank. I finally setup my 29 on April of 2000. I use 2 6500k 400watt metal halide and 2 VHO actinic lighting on the 120 and 2VHO+2NO on the 55. My 29 gallon system has 4x55watt Power Compacts. I use a dual chambered calcium reactor by geo to maintain alkalinity at 12DKH and my calcium at 450. My tanks are all plumbed into a central sump and kept at 80 degrees via a custom sealife 1/3hp chiller. I dose trace elements every now and then and dose iodine weekly. All the corralline growth and corals seem to suck up the calcium and iodine. Lets not forget the tridacnid clams they are by far the biggest calcium hogs. Well i am by no means an expert so enjoy the pics and anyone who wants to share insite and criticism or praise feel free to do so. We only learn from each other. More info will come soon as I have more time to put this site together but for now you can follow the links to some pics. THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE ANYONE WHO WANTS TO GET INTO THIS HOBBY IS TO READ AND THEN READ SOME MORE. IT DOES NOT HURT TO HAVE A HUGE WALLET EITHER. SPEND YOUR MONEY WISELY. DO NOT TRY AND SKIMP YOU WILL ONLY BUY ANOTHER ONE WHEN YOU REALIZE YOU WENT TOO SMALL OR TOO CHEAP. CHECK OUT MY TANKS BELOW. Click on the links below for my tank previews.
COME BY AND SEE REEFTALK.COM. This love of the hobby has turned into an obsession and BajaThree and I started a board in March of 2001 for hobbyists to share there knowledge and experience. ReefTalk.com
