It has been advertised, that in year( 2006) three (3) million people suffered from "infection ". Of these three ( 3) million, ninety five (95) thousand died from the infection. And these people...the ninety five (95) thousand Were in hospitalsWHAT WAS THE MAJOR REASON FOR THE INFECTION? The simple task of Washing, Washing their hands before administrating to a patient!!
Tell the clerk, cashier, whoever, that you don't need their germs!!! further that they are jeopardizing their health by licking their fingers after and before handing out the dollar(s).
What every establishment needs is a " wet sponge, cloth or something that can hold moisture" that will be used to moisten fingers.
If the person serving you looks at you like you are stupid and you really don't need what you have acquired/picked to buy, leave the merchandise on the counter and walk out of the store, etc.
YOU DON'T NEED THEIR GERMS, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A SIMPLE COLD OR SOMETHING MAJOR!!!

Women taking high doses of ibuprofen, acetaminophen (Tylenol) and other over the counter pain relievers, but not aspirin, have higher blood pressure, Harvard medical researchers report.
Women ages 51 to 77 taking more than 400 milligrams daily (about
two tablets of ibuprofen) had a 78 percent greater risk of hypertension
than those not using the drugs.
Women using 500 mg daily_(one extra strength Tylenol) had twice the risk.
The four year study of 5,100 women was published in the September Hypertension. The authors note that the common use of these drugs "may contribute to the high prevalence of hypertension in the United States."

|---|
A routine blood test including a white blood cell count could become a simple and cheap way to help predict which post menopausal women are at greater risk for heart attacks or strokes, a national team of researchers reported Monday...(*)March 13, 2005.Copyright © 2005, Chicago TribuneA high white blood cell count is an indicator of inflammation, which has been linked to the buildup of fatty deposits in arteries feeding the heart and brain, the hallmark of cardiovascular disease.
Reporting in the Archives of Internal Medicine, the researchers found that women who had the highest white blood cell counts had a (*forty) 40 percent higher risk of heart attack than women with the lowest count. Women in the highest bracket also had a 46 percent greater risk of stroke and a (*fifty) 50 percent greater risk of death over the course of the six-year study.
"This confirms the finding that there is a role of inflammation in the prediction of cardiovascular disease and that the white blood cell count is another potential test that could be used to help identify which people are at higher risk," said Dr. Philip Greenland, chief of preventive medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a member of the study team. The white blood cell count could be used in conjunction with assessment of other risk factors such as cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, weight, smoking and physical activity, he said.
Many doctors now measure inflammation in patients using another test called the *"C-reactive protein, or CRP." CRP is a byproduct of the inflammatory process.
The CRP test costs about (*Seventy dollars) $70, whereas the routine blood test, which includes the white blood cell count as well as red cell and platelet counts, runs about (*Twenty five to thirty dollars) $25-30, Greenland said.
"This offers a stable, well standardized, widely available and inexpensive measure of systemic inflammation," the researchers reported.
Since the cheaper blood test is such a routine part of physical exams, it could serve as an additional early predictor of cardiovascular disease in women who have not received a CRP test, he said.
"White cell counts are done routinely, usually to see whether the patient has an underlying infection," said Dr. Jacques Rossouw of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, which supported the study. "This and other studies suggest that physicians could also learn something more: whether their patients are at increased risk for cardiovascular disease."
The study involved a six-year follow up of 72,242 postmenopausal women aged (*Fifty to Seventy Nine) 50 to 79 years who participated in the Women's Health Initiative.

As a result of a good friend suffering a dizzy spell,...he has heart problems... which caused him to fall down and become incapacited,, I have discussed with my wife that if this action...or any other that incapacitates me... she is to either "Take my wallet, Keys and any dollars." or if someone is administering to me, my wife is to ask, even demand, that these items be given to her.
If visitors to this page have never read or heard the saying "I Have Seen The Enemy, And He Is Us" , you've read it now.
Why, have I discussed this subject? Because instead of lending a helping hand to my friend, people used his conditioned to rob him of his wallet, inexpensive watch and loose change.
Recent article in local ( Chicago ) paper detailed what happened to person who was in car accident. While some people came to his aid, other stripped him of his Wallet, Watch, Money and also stripped his vehilcle of anything that was removable.
If we are lucky enough to grow old, we might/will have epsodes that incapacitate us. Plan for the inevitable, don't let the scavengers, scum of the earth...that appear out of no where... like the bugs/worms that appear when something or someone dies..., take advantage...rob... you or your loved ones, when you are unable to defend yourself.
My wife has instructed me, that "If ever she is incapacitated" I am to take or get her purse, wedding ring and any other jewelry she is wearing.Noting that since we were talking about people stealing, she is reminded that several of her lady friends have commented about someone they knew who was robbed while in a mall, or accident waiting for medical assistance, ambulance.
TALK ABOUT IT !!!
Petting the animals at the petting zoo, your child stands a chance of meeting E. coli, salmonella, cryptosporidium and campylobacter.
These bacteria live in the intestinal tracts of some animals and are shed in the animal's feces. People can become very sick when the bacteria get onto their hands, food or drink.
(*) When You and the kids...after visiting a zoo...get home...be sure to take off your Shoes, Sneakers , before entering the house, apartment, to be sure that no feces where where you walked while at Zoo or other where there were animals...SEE THE NEXT PARAGRAPH !!!
Between 1991 and 2005, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tracked at least 55 outbreaks of intestinal disease linked to petting zoos and other animal attractions.
To find out what's going wrong, last year researchers in Ontario, Canada sent an observer to 36 petting zoos. He found 94 percent of the zoos offered hand washing stations, but only 30 percent of patrons used the facilities.
Another bad sign: at 82 percent of the zoos, people were eating and drinking. People also brought baby bottles, pacifiers and baby toys into the petting zoos - a big no-no.
After tossing her books on the sofa, she decided to grab a snack and get on-line.She logged on under her screen name ByAngel213. She checked her Buddy List and saw GoTo123 was on. She sent him an instant message:
ByAngel213: Hi. I'm glad you are on! I thought someone was following me home today. It was really weird!
GoTo123: LOL You watch too much TV. Why would someone be following you? Don't you live in a safe neighborhood?
ByAngel213: Of course I do. LOL I guess it was my imagination cuz' I didn't see anybody when I looked out.
GoTo123: Unless you gave your name out on-line. You haven't done that have you?
ByAngel213: Of course not. I'm not stupid you know.
GoTo123: Did you have a softball game after school today?
ByAngel213: Yes and we won!!
GoTo123: That's great! Who did you play?
ByAngel213: We played the Hornets. LOL. Their uniforms are so gross! They look like bees. LOL
GoTo123: What is your team called?
ByAngel213: We are the Canton Cats. We have tiger paws on our uniforms. They are really cool.
GoTo123: Did you pitch?
ByAngel213: No I play second base. I got to go. My homework has to be done before my parents get home. I don't want them mad at me. Bye!
GoTo123: Catch you later. Bye
Meanwhile......GoTo123 went to the member menu and began to search for her profile. When it came up, he highlighted it and printed it out. He took out a pen and began to write down what he knew about Angel so far.
Her name: Shannon
Birthday: Jan. 3, 1985
Age: 13
State where she lived: North Carolina
Hobbies: softball, chorus, skating and going to the mall. Besides this information,he knew she lived in Canton because she had just told him He knew she stayed by herself until 6:30 p.m. every afternoon until her parents came home from work. He knew she played softball on Thursday afternoons on the school team, and the team was named the Canton Cats.
Her favorite number 7 was printed on her jersey. He knew she was in the eighth grade at the Canton Junior High School . She had told him all this in the conversations they had on-line. He had enough information to find her now.
Shannon didn't tell her parents about the incident on the way home from the ballpark that day. She didn't want them to make a scene and stop her from walking home from the softball games.
Parents were always overreacting and hers were the worst. It made her wish she was not an only child. Maybe if she had brothers and sisters, her parents wouldn't be so overprotective.
By Thursday, Shannon had forgotten about the footsteps following her.
Her game was in full swing when suddenly she felt someone staring at her. It was then that the memory came back. She glanced up from her second base position to see a man watching her closely.
He was leaning against the fence behind first base and he smiled when she looked at him.He didn't look scary and she quickly dismissed the sudden fear she had felt.
After the game, he sat on a bleacher while she talked to the coach. She noticed his smile once again as she walked past him. He nodded and she smiled back. He noticed her name on the back of her shirt. He knew he had found her.
Quietly, he walked a safe distance behind her. It was only a few blocks to Shannon 's home, and once he saw where she lived he quickly returned to the park to get his car.
Now he had to wait. He decided to get a bite to eat until the time came to go to Shannon 's house. He drove to a fast food restaurant and sat there until time to make his move.
Shannon was in her room later that evening when she heard voices in the living room."Shannon, come here," her father called. He sounded upset and she couldn't imagine why.She went into the room to see the man from the ballpark sitting on the sofa
"Sit down," her father began, "this man has just told us a most interesting story about you." Shannon sat back. How could he tell her parents anything? She had never seen him before today!
"Do you know who I am, Shannon ?" the man asked."No," Shannon answered."I am a police officer and your online friend, GoTo123."
Shannon was stunned. "That's impossible! GoTo is a kid my age! He's 14. And he lives in Michigan!"
The man smiled. "I know I told you all that, but it wasn't true. You see, Shannon , there are people on line who pretend to be kids; I was one of them. But while others do it to injure kids and hurt them,
I belong to a group of parents who do it to protect kids from predators. I came here to find you to teach you how dangerous it is to talk to people on-line. You told me enough about yourself to make it easy for me to find you.
You name the school you went to, the name of your ball team and the position you played. The number and name on your jersey just made finding you a breeze."
Shannon was stunned. "You mean you don't live in Michigan ?"
He laughed. "No, I live in Raleigh .. It made you feel safe to think I was so far away, didn't it?" She nodded.
"I had a friend whose daughter was like you. Only she wasn't as lucky. The guy found her and murdered her while she was home alone. Kids are taught not to tell anyone when they are alone, yet they do it all the time on-line.
The wrong people trick you into giving out information a little here and there on-line. Before you know it, you have told them enough for them to find you without even realizing you have done it.
I hope you've learned a lesson from this and won't do it again. Tell others about this so they will be safe too?"
"It's a promise!"
That night Shannon and her Dad and Mom all knelt down together and thanked God for protecting Shannon from what could have been a tragic situation.

The Federal Environmental Protection Agency is stepping up its investigation into "potential health risks" posed by two groups of chemicals used to make a wide range of products. The best known of which is "teflon".There are many "scientific uncertainties" about the potential health hazards posed to consumers and to those involved in the manufacture of the products, said Stephen Johnson,an EPA assistant administrator.
Still, Johnson said he see no reason for consumers to stop using the products. The chemicals are used in products including non-stick coating for pans, grease resistant coatings on carpets, and flame resistant parts in jet engines.
The agencies concern about the chemicals increased after blood samples from three ( 3 ) population groups, selected at random showed " low level" residues of the most worrisom chemical, " perfluorooctanic acid, or PFOA, that lingered in their blood for as long as four (4) years, Johnson said.
A second (2nd ) study, involving larger doses of the chemical, fed to rats, showed delays in sexual maturation and an accerlerated death rate.John cautioned the EPA scientist still don't know exactly how PFOA gets into the environment or how it enters the human body.
The agency also is concerned about a group of chemicals called fluorinated telomers used in firefighting foams, cleaning products and stain repellent coatings. The EPA scientist suspect that, while the products aren't made with PFOA, they might release the chemical.
Adding to the mystery, the presence of PFOA starts with the use of a close chemical relative, a salt called "ammonium perfuoroortanoate", or APFO, which is used in teflon. DuPont Company, the leading U.S. maker of APFO and fluorinated telomers said in a letter to the EPA that they "think" their products "are safe for their intended use", but they also "are examining the use of PFOA more closely"

Highlights and Paragraph spacing by page author
The "Key" word in the above is in the last paragraph. DuPont "Thinks" their products "are safe for their intended use " While Page Author has seen television marketers use a metal spatular or other to "scrape" the bottom of the pans(s) to show the scrape resistant feature of the Teflon coating, Page Author has never read anything by the DuPont Company condoning this action.
If you uses teflon coated products, it is recommended that you look at each product carefully, to see if teflon has worn or been scraped off. If wear is evidenced then where did the worn off Teflon go? Remember:
In my ongoing attempt to shield my toddler from chemical pollution, I've been debating whether to throw out the most useful thing in the kitchen: non-stick skillets and pans.I used to think that slippery Teflon cookware was one of the best perks of living in a high tech society. I can't imagine watching my husband cook without it.
But an advisory panel to the Environmental Protection Agency recently sounded the alarm about the chemical PFOA, short for perfluorooctanoic acid, which is essential in manufacturing heat and chemical resistant materials known as fluoropolymers.
Fluoropolymers help make non stick coatings like the Teflon brand and thousands of other products, including rain and stain repellent clothing, fire retardant fabrics, microwave popcorn bags, pizza delivery boxes, fast-food and pharmaceutical packaging and carpets.
The recent concern among scientists stems from animal studies that have shown that PFOA has caused tumors, birth defects and immune suppression when fed to rats in high doses. Of course, more research is needed to determine whether it causes cancer in humans. But the EPA advisory group said PFOA should be considered a "likely" carcinogen.
This is unnerving because while we're not exactly sure what PFOA does to us, it's everywhere. It has been found in the blood of 95 percent of Americans tested and in unusually high levels of Arctic animals, including polar bears in Greenland, Alaska and Canada. Studies show that virtually every newborn enters the world contaminated; they've been exposed while in the womb, and PFOA shows up in umbilical cord blood.
Are non-stick pans the culprit? Have I saturated my toddler with industrial chemicals by putting his highchair in the kitchen? DuPont, of course, says no. One of eight companies that last month voluntarily agreed to reduce and eventually phase out its use of PFOA, DuPont maintains that Teflon pans are safe when used properly--not overheated--and have been for 50 years.
Teflon itself is not a PFOA. Rather, PFOA is used in production of non-stick cookware and largely is removed from the final product before it hits store shelves, according to DuPont.
DuPont also says its products don't emit chemicals that are hazardous to humans through normal use, and so far, the EPA agrees. (Pet birds, with sensitive respiratory systems, are a different story. They can be killed by the fumes from non stick cookware.)
The Environmental Working Group, which has done its own studies and petitioned the EPA about PFOA hazards, argues that Teflon emits toxic particulates at a lower temperature than DuPont claims. But chemist Scott Mabury, whose research has provided data suggesting that sources of PFOA are largely household products such as stain repellents and non stick chemicals, believes focusing on Teflon misses the bigger picture.
"It's far more appropriate to look at the stain resistant coatings on paper products, carpets and fabrics," said Mabury, professor of environmental chemistry at the University of Toronto, who still uses non stick pans. "They're more likely to explain the worldwide contamination."
The environmental group agrees on this point. Although the organization offers other cookware options on its Web site (www.ewg.org), it also tells consumers to avoid stain and rain repellent clothing, carpet and furniture treatments, food wraps and sprays for leather shoes and other clothing.
It's virtually impossible to avoid PFOA. But if you're trying to minimize exposure, don't abuse non stick pans by overheating them. If they are scratched, flaking or cracked, replace them. Never leave an empty non stick pan on a hot burner. And consider glass, stainless steel and cast iron, which are all safe alternatives.
Cast iron can also increase the iron content of some foods, especially acidic ones with a higher moisture content, such as applesauce and spaghetti sauce.
If you eat fast food that comes in grease-repellent wrapping, remove it from the container and put it in a plate. Don't reheat food in grease-resistant packaging such as Chinese takeout cartons.
And the environmental group says to be on the lookout for brand names such as Teflon, Gore-Tex, Stainmaster, Scotchgard and SilverStone. Most parents don't want to imagine how messy life will be without non stick pans and stain repellent clothing, but we might be paying a high price for little conveniences.

DALLAS, TEXAS --Font color="blue" Women taking daily doses of non-aspirin pain killers such as an (*)"extra strength Tylenol " are more likely to develop high blood pressure than those who don't, a new study suggests.
While many popular over the counter painkillers have been linked before to high blood pressure, acetaminophen, sometimes sold as Tylenol, has been considered relatively safe.
It is the only one that is not a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID, a class of medications just required by the federal government to carry stricter warning labels because of the risk for heart related problems. Those include ibuprofen and naproxen.
The study found that women taking acetaminophen were about twice as likely to develop blood pressure problems. Risk also rose for women taking NSAIDS other than aspirin.
"If you're taking these over the counter medications at high dosages on a regular basis, make sure that you report it to your doctor and that you're checking your blood pressure," said Dr. Christie Ballantyne, a cardiologist at the Methodist DeBakey Heart Center in Houston who had no role in the study.
The research found that aspirin remains the safest medicine for pain relief. It has long been known to reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems.
The study involved 5,123 women participating in the Nurses Health Study at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

The US Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow jackets away. The yellow jackets just veer around you.It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them.
It also repels mice. Spread them around foundation areas, or in trailers, cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.
Repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
Eliminates static electricity from your television (or computer) screen. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.
Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
Freshen the air in your home. Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
Freshen the air in your car. Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
Clean baked on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The antistatic agent apparently weakens the bond between the food.
Eliminate odors in wastebaskets.. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.
Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. Keeps them smelling fresh.
Chances are you're among the millions of Americans who received a gift card, or a half dozen of them, this past holiday season. Before you tuck the plastic presents in your wallet and forget about them, be sure to check for any fees or expiration dates.
Those features "could erode the value of that gift," or even leave you with no benefit at all, says Greg McBride, senior financial analyst for Bankrate.com, a financial information site. Some cards expire in as little as six months.
Gift cards come in two formats: those tied to a particular retailer, and those sold by credit-card issuers that can be used almost anywhere that accepts debit cards.
A survey last month (*)December 2004)by Bankrate.com found that cards backed by major credit card issuers usually included expiration dates, as did four of 20 retailer cards considered. Most of the cards expire within six to 24 months. Macy's gift cards, for instance, expire after two years.
Several of the cards have redemption or "inactivity" fees. The American Express gift card doesn't expire, but begins levying a (*)Two Dollar ($2) monthly fee if the balance isn't used up within a year.
So in the second year after purchase, the card's value would drop (*)Twenty Four ($24).
Some states prohibit the sale of gift cards that expire. So depending on where you live, you may not need to worry. A gift card's terms often are spelled out on the back. Otherwise, there's usually a toll free number to call for more information or to check the card's balance.
If you discover a card already has expired, you're not necessarily out of luck. Some issuers will issue a new card for a small fee or mail you a check with the remaining balance -- but only if you request it.
