The sun has risen
I can see it shining on my bench
Where I sleep curled up in a ball
Many a lazy afternoon
This is my world, my piece of heaven
I can climb a tree
Or run around in circles
It’s all waiting for me out there
I cannot wait to feel the grass
Under my paws, so green and soft
The sun on my back
The breeze rustling my fur
There are moths to chase
And twigs to play with
Or perhaps a nap under a rose bush
That would be mighty fine
I can hear the hum of the bees
And the leaves turning in the wind
The smells of the garden
Are waiting for my twitching nose
And I will lap at the bubbling fountain
Even though I’m not supposed to
Then I’ll chase my tail
For a little while
Oh where is that human of mine ?
Sleeping still in her warm bed
When there is a whole day beginning
Waiting for me, only me
I just want to get out there
But I guess I’ll wait
Maybe just a little longer
Or at least until after breakfast
