Medieval Village parking passes are only good for the Grand River entrance (red gate.)

As of May 21, 2009, the meeting of the Howell Chamber of Commerce Michigan Challenge Balloonfest Committee determined that there will be no direct sales done by demonstrators in the Medieval Village except those that are directly related to an ongoing demo.

Anyone selling items other than the above description will be asked to shut down and is prohibited from any sales by the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest Committee. We will be monitored by the people in charge of vending at the event. The final determination is not by the Canton, but by the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest Committee. The Medieval Village will be given a tent within the Arts Festival (at a cost to the Canton) to be able to sell things that are being demonstrated in the village. Because of the late notice the fee will be absorbed by the Canton in 2009, as of 2010, a portion of this fee will asked as a table fee by the Canton to anyone wishing to sell at the event. If you wish to sell directly at the event you must go through the Juried Art show and will be located in the Art show area during the festival. Applications were taken until the end of May for this year and are now closed. For next year, applications are available on the website: http:www.michiganchallenge.com.

The demos are performed by both members and non-members of the SCA who come from far and near. If you are interested in being a demonstrator for the Medieval Village, please consider the following:

bullet The Medieval Village is considered part of the entertainment package for the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest. This is a demo activity within the educational aspect of the SCA. All decisions made by the Howell Chamber of Commerce in regards to this event are controlling.
bulletYou will need to provide a demonstration of your art as part of your participation, per the agreement with the Howell Chamber of Commerce (sponsors of the the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest).  In exchange for the demonstrations, there are no site fees for SCA members, no table charges, no parking fees, and we feed you. You must contact the autocrat or merchocrat for your free parking pass. Medieval Village parking passes are only good for the Grand River entrance (red gate.) If you do not want to demo, you may apply for the juried art fair and pay the fees associated. See Balloonfest web site for details and application form - www.michiganchallenge.com.
bulletWe must limit the number of specific demos because we are limited by the amount of space allocated to us by the Howell Chamber of Commerce (sponsors of the the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest). We are guests providing a service for their event and must abide by their rules, as well as local and state laws.
bulletWe will accept duplicate or similar demos if space allows.  Obviously the more diverse selection we are able to offer, the more interesting the village.  Approval of demos will be made by the Event Stewart for the event.  Their decision is final as they are the person of record in charge of the Medieval Village.  There is no court or council of appeal.

Apply early for a place in the Medieval Village.  If we commit the space to your demo we expect you to respect that commitment and be present.  Remember, we may have turned someone else down because you accepted.  We are counting on you. The Merchocrat or one of their representatives will then contact you. The sooner you apply the better your chances.

More specific rules (as the location for the Balloonfest is Michigan Public School property - dry, no weapons) as well as other information related to the Balloonfest will be provided by the Merchant Event Stewart - Lady Catalina Castillo Diaz y Garcia - after you contact her thru the e-mail address merchocrat@weldlake.org.Medieval . Village parking passes are only good for the Grand River entrance (red gate.)

Reminder - you must check in at Troll upon your arrival on site.

Check in at troll for setup location information as well as your food pass. As mentioned above, the Canton of Weldlake will feed the demonstrators. There is food at the art fair/merchants area as well as the carnival for those not demonstrating.

Thank you for your interest in our Medieval Village.
