This is my 07 Mazdaspeed3, bought brand new in April '07 with 21 miles on it.

It comes stock with a 2.3L 4 cylinder DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition).  It is turbocharged and intercooled, pressurizing the engine with a peak of about 15psi, creating 263HP at 5500rpm and 280ft*lbs of torque at 3000rpm.  The engine has so much power that the engine output is limited in 1st and 2nd gear to keep it from spinning the tires continuously all the way through 1st and 2nd gear.  Even with the power limited in 1st and 2nd, it will easily smoke the tires through 2nd gear, despite the fact that it has a limited-slip differential.

For a FWD car, it has excellent handling.  It still understeers at the limit, but the handling limit is so high...

The car is stock at this point, but because the car is so new, the aftermarket is still working on new parts.  There are many being planned.  For me, a Mazdaspeed Cold-Air Intake is coming soon.
