This is my baby, a Rio Red 1996 Ford Probe GT. It was bought on
July 6, 2001 with a mere 55,163 miles on it, from "Auto City" in Albany,
OR. Of the dozen or so Probes that I looked at throughout the northwest, I
found this one to be in the best mechanical shape. It is loaded with every
option except leather, rear wiper, and an automatic, but having driven an
automatic Probe and hearing all the horror maintenance stories for the
automatic Probes, I'm glad mine doesn't have one. The body only has
one noticeable dent, right above the driver-side rear wheel, and the paint
is in surprisingly good shape, considering the poor quality of the paint
put on Probes. The only noticeable problems were a vibration in the
steering wheel at highway speeds (was found to be an out-of-balance wheel)
and a slight surge every once in a while when traveling at a consistent
speed (dirty injector).
My main goal while modifying this car was to maintain the stock beauty
of this car, while still getting as much performance from it as possible,
while still keeping it practical for every day use. I feel that I
have done this very well.
This car was sold April of 2007 with about 103k miles on it. It
will be missed...
