Pharlane Farm is owned and operated by Bob and Lisa Pedrin. Located 9 miles north of Portland Oregon, in Washington State. Not only specializing in Australian Shepherds, and Arabian Pinto Horses. We are dedicated to the advancement of Australian Shepherds, and Pinto Arabian horses. We are a licensed breeder of Australian Shepherds. Pharlane is a licensed and registered kennel name.
Pharlane is not just horses and aussies. I have information and pictures are on livestock; cattle, ducks, herding dogs, and other ranch /farm animals. Including a section on the incubation, hatching, brooding, raising and taking care of ducks or turkeys.
Links to all of our pages can be found at the bottom of each page.
For herding dogs, we prefer the Australian Shepherd, also known as an Aussie. All dogs and puppies have been worked with from an early age, and are not food aggressive.
You will find the current status of our Australian Shepherds, including any litters, on "The Farm" page link below. Aussie pictures can be found on the "Australian Shepherd" and "Picture" page links. Our dogs are not kept in a kennel, nor do I have kennels to put them in. They are allowed to run, swim, check the fence line (marking territory) and get into trouble. This does not mean that they are allowed to run free unsupervised, only that they are given time to run. The dogs, when not playing or watching, are sometimes inside with me. They have limited TV time and are not allowed to watch cartoons.
Our Australian Shepherds are registered ASCA. Some also AKC, CKC. Our breeding stock is DNA certified. This means that you will be getting an Australian Shepherd. DNA sample taken, sent into a lab, tested, and certified to be 100% Australian Shepherd. Not a Border Collie passed off as an Aussie. Nor say a pup from multiple parents, or one where it is not known if there was another breed introduced into the line years past. But, a Purebred Australian Shepherd puppy. I have breeding quality and pet quality Australian Shepherd dogs and Australian Shepherd puppies for sale. The parents are usually working dogs. Puppies are wormed, and are age current on shots. I can email pictures of Australian Shepherds for sale.
I no longer raise nor sell Muscovy Ducks, or African Geese. At this time I have no plans for a future hatch. The information on ducks and geese will stay up, should you need help / advice. You will find on the "Incubating & Hatching" page information on Duckling Incubation, Hatching, & Brooding, General Information, Raising Ducks and Geese.
I have shown Arabian Pinto horse classes
for about eight years. All our horses are either registered PtHA, IAHA, or both. No, this is not
one of those bragging sites where I tell you how great our horses are. List all the awards, then
tell you who came from who and can be traced back to who cares. The horses did well, and I had fun
most of the time. I then decided to let our horses be horses.
Instead of horse shows, paddock living, tail bags, (tails that would fall a foot or more on the
ground) and mane tamers. (manes around knee level) Ask me how to do this if you want, but this is for show only.
Anyway, I took off the bags and tamers. Telling the horses to go play, turned them all out,
learned to rope and work cattle. Though, at first it was more chasing cows, went trail riding,
and horse camping more. I am not selling any horses at this time, as
they've all been good boys and girls. Although, at times a few are really pushing it. For now,
I'll just chalk it up to "I feel good what's wrong with you flu." I do have pictures of our stock
and list horses being sold by friends on the Horses page. Most of the horses are Arabian, or Arabian mix.
And, YES an Arab can do that.
Please let me know what you are looking for, and I can put you in contact with the owners.
Every animal at Pharlane is raised as a pet. Meaning
they are either kept as pets (part of the family) or are real friendly. The
exceptions have been; Bulls during breeding season, and in the past we raised and sold rams.
A hand tame ram can be a big mistake. Although we had a ram that was hand tame and rideable.
He never became aggressive towards us. I consider that an exception instead of the rule. and who wants
to take a chance on say a Jacob ram with up to 6 horns? Now, it's not that were into animal rights or
anything like that. It's just that I live real close to Albertson's and Safeway food stores.
Please visit our "Search Engine & Links" page. You'll find sites ranging from coin
collecting to windmills, belonging to friends. You may also want to take time to read our Disclaimer page.
Now, at times my brain might have been cleaning stalls while working on this site. So, if you find a mistake, please e-mail me, just be kind.
Welcome to our site. I hope you like it and visit us
again soon. Yall don't need your mud boots so take em off. There's parking out front
for both 4 wheeled and 4 legged critters. Happy
Trails and Good Farming, All Yall! YeeeeHaw!
