Traveling Without Moving The Artwork of J. A. Bowermaster

Thank you for visiting my website and purchasing my Artwork. Your support, generosity, and patronage are greatly appreciated.

My name is John Bowermaster; I’m a 37 year old man who lives in Harrisburg, Pa and member of the Art Association of Harrisburg since 2005.

In 2006 I’ve begun producing both Canvas and Optical Acrylics in addition to my Optical Oil-on-Glass Paintings.

Since its conception; J. A. Bowermaster's artworks have fascinated and amazed art collectors with their deep, vibrant colors and mysterious abilities to literally change form and shape.

Collectors find themselves constantly compelled to look at, into and beyond their paintings to endlessly changing worlds beyond wonder.

The unique thing about the glass paintings I create, is that they have the ability to "live on light" ... meaning that as the light throughout the day changes, both your Optical Acrylic and Optical Oil-on-Glass paintings will change as well, right before your very eyes. The result is deep, vibrantly double-dipped colors that form swirling, blending, three-dimensional layers of varying thickness and thinness which effortlessly dance between deepest darkness and sparkling light, and magically shape shift form as the light falling upon them changes strength and ability to penetrate the different layers of paint revealing endlessly changing combinations of paint layers.

This is why collectors are constantly amazed that their paintings are forever changing throughout the day: they are not the same painting in the light of morning, noon, or night. They are alive, and ever-changing.

But how can a painting, once painted, change form and color? The answer lies within these unique paintings' structure: they are based on visual perception, and work exactly like color slides that literally live on light ... and therefore mysteriously change form and color whenever the light falling upon on them changes strength and intensity, revealing hidden images brought forth by the viewer’s subconscious mind.

For the most part, the paints used are transparent colors painted directly on a glass panel; but, if more opaque colors are used, they, having been painted thin enough, allowing light falling upon them to pass through first the supporting glass panel, and then the colors themselves, finally being reflected back through the depths of the painting from a pure white reflective background.

The result is mysteriously compelling artwork that speaks to all of us in our common Humanity's visual language of shapes, colors, and, forms of dreams, which openly and honestly share these burdens by literally bringing them to light and life through this wonderful new interpretation of the ancient, infinite, and miraculous healing powers of art.
