Zoe BENNION LAUDER (2 Nov 1914 - 3 Nov 1999)
Zoe was born in Nordegg, Alberta, [Canada] to Thomas and Ida (Clarkston) Bennion. In 1919 her mother died and she lived with aunt and uncle Ira and Rebecca Huffman, who adopted her. She attended elementary school in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and lived in Grants Pass [Oregon] before moving to Albany [Oregon] in 1931. She graduated from Albany High School in 1932. In 1940 she received her registered nurse's degree from the University Medical School, now Oregon Health Sciences University. She was married to George Lauder. He died in 1967. During World War II Mrs. Lauder worked in a first aid station at the Portland [Oregon] shipyards. She worked in Portland for Dr. Gatewood and for many years for Dr. Raymond McMahon before retiring in 1983. For Dr. McMahon she served as x-ray technician, laboratory technician, receptionist, bookkeeper and nurse. In 1996, she moved to Albany to be near relatives. She was active in the Oregon Nurse's Association and the American Nurse's Association, serving as chairman and secretary at state and district levels of the office nurses section. She served on the state and district nurse's association boards and was director of the district board. She helped organize emergency medical facilities at [Oregon] Gov. Tom McCall's request. Mrs. Lauder belonged to the Navy Mothers and to the first advisory council for Portland Community College. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking and sewing. Zoe Bennion-Huffman Lauder died November 3, 1999, in Albany, OR. Surviving are sisters [omitted-living] and Betty McGuire of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Son James died in 1996; sister Gloria Huffman-Wyninegar died in 1959. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Riverview Cemetery and Mausoleum in Portland.

Betty BENNION McGUIRE (30 Nov 1919 - 9 Feb 2001)
[Ida] Betty was born in Nordegg, Alberta, [Canada] the daughter of Thomas and Ida (Clarkston) Bennion. Her mother died the year she was born, and she and her three sisters were adopted and raised by an uncle and aunt, Ira and Rebecca Huffman. She lived on a farm and attended a one-room school in Idaho, and then lived briefly in Grants Pass. The family moved to Albany in 1931 and she graduated from Albany High School in 1936. Mrs. McGuire worked at the Linn County [Oregon]Courthouse for seven years and moved to San Francisco[California] to work for Pan American Airlines during World War II. She married Marshall McGuire in 1943, and their two daughters were born in Albany. In 1962, the family moved to Las Vegas [Nevada], where Mrs. McGuire worked for Bonanza Airlines. In 1996 they moved to Phoenix, where she retired there from Northwest Airlines in 1981. She was especially fond of animals. Betty BENNION MCGUIRE died Feb. 9 [2001] in Phoenix, Ariz. Surviving are husband Marshall; daughters Marsha Pagani and Patty McGuire; and four grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters [omitted-living]. Sisters Zoe Lauder and Gloria Huffman-Wyninegar died in 1999 and 1959 respectively.

Nellie BENNION STOKO (29 Mar 1916 - 11 Aug 2007)
Nellie Stoko, 91, of Albany[Oregon] died Saturday [11 Aug 2007] at Samaritan Albany General Hospital. She was born 29 Mar 1916 in Nordegg, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Thomas and Ida (Clarkston) Binnion [Bennion]. Her parents died and Nellie and her sisters were adopted by the Huffmans. They moved to Rockford, Idaho, and then to Albany, where she has lived since.
Nellie graduated from Albany High School in 1933 and was very vigilant about attending her class reunions. After high school, she worked for Parker & Smith Realty and later for Ransom and Smith Realty. She had also worked for Willamette Memorial Park.
Nellie married M. Lee Grove. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1953.
She married William James "Bill" Stoko on Nov. 21, 1956, in Albany. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 2005.
She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church and the Rebekah Lodge, where she was a very active member and served as treasurer.
Nellie is survived by son Tom Stoko, daughter-in-law Ann Stoko, grandson Josh Adam Stoko and granddaughter Bethany Stoko, all of Albany; and special friends Gladys McGuire of Salem and Joe Ferrante of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. She was preceded in death by sisters Betty McGuire, Zoe Lauder and Gloria Wynegar.
