How to Fake an Apparition |
OK, I must admit that I was a bit hesitant to post this photo. It shows how easy it is to fake a photo of an apparition. By posting it, I may be putting even more doubt on future, and possibly genuine, images of ghosts. I came to the conclusion that, although there is an added burden, I believe that expanding our knowledge is more important. I haven't seen an example of this posted yet, so it may be the first. Let's take a look.
First, take a look at the photo below...

Now comes the fun part. I used an Olympus C-60 Zoom digital camera. The photograph was NOT altered in any way by use of programs and filters. It was taken in less the ten seconds. As you can see, the stairs are visible through me, as is the wall, tri-pod box, bags, and part of the entertainment center. No mirrors were used, nor was any glass in the way. This is not a double exposure, since you can't do that on a digital camera.
OK, The Answer- I had the camera set on a tripod. I set the camera to the Night-Time mode and turned the lights out. The only light in the room was from the PC monitor. I set the timer on the camera and hit the shutter. I moved into the standing position you see above. As soon as the flash fired, I dropped to the floor (taking myself out of the cameras view. Because the camera was on a Night-Time setting )NOT to be confused with night vision), the shutter stayed open longer then normal, about 2 seconds. The flash caught my image, nut the added exposure time allowed light from the monitor and from the top of the stairs to burn onto the image...From Behind Where I Was Standing. This caused my image to fade and become transparent.
