About Us
The Paranormal Investigators & Research Association
Our organization was formed in
2001 by Kenneth Biddle. After being involved with Philadelphia based
investigative team,
Kenny decided to branch out and form his own team, and follow a slightly
different set of guidelines. With the help of his
wife, Donna, and a fellow investigator, Bob R., the PIRA team was starting to
come together. Eventually, team members
came and went... but a core member base has solidified over the years. We do
not, and will never, charge a fee to perform
an investigation. This is our interest, our passion... and we enjoy the chance
to gain additional knowledge and understanding
of what's going on in the world of the weird and mysterious.
Our approach to investigating the
paranormal is simple; we look for the truth. Our experience has shown
that the majority
of supposedly paranormal activity really does have a natural explanation to
them. With some common sense and critical
thinking, most cases are found to be the result of mistakes, misinterpretations,
lack of knowledge and even...deliberate fraud.
Our goal is to go into a site, gather all available information, and determine
the cause... be it natural or supernatural.
We do not employ the use of
psychics or mediums, and we have a reason. Among those who make the claim of
being able
to communicate or sense those on the other side, many fail to produce any
evidence to back up these claims. In my
experience, and with we have come into contact with, none have demonstrated any
reliable evidence. Since this area
of the paranormal is just as unproven as the rest of the fields (ghosts, UFOs,
Bigfoot, etc.), we could not rely on
someone as an investigative tool. This is not a statement of Denial that
Psychics do not exist... just that we are waiting
for solid evidence first.
We take on an "Information
Gathering" approach - we make use of recording equipment (Still Cameras,
Video Cameras,
Digital Video Recording systems, Audio Recorders, etc) and detection equipment
(Thermometers, Electromagnetic
Field Meters, Infrared Motion Sensors, etc), Interviews with the clients &
witnesses, research online and at local libraries
and so on. Oh, we also make use of the two most important tools every Ghost
Hunter/Paranormal Investigator should
use (though most don't); Common Sense & Critical Thinking. We take all of
the information gathered by all of these
methods...analyze it, and come up with conclusion (and sometimes a course of
action).
Our team members are always trying
to get out there. We attend various fund raising events at Fort Mifflin, Eastern
State
Penitentiary, and other places. We take great pride in being able to work with
other groups throughout the Pennsylvania
and New Jersey area...as well as those in other states as we attend conferences
(and the extra events that go along). We
not only work together, but we also get along with other teams (that are
considered friends...not "associates"). We look
forward to being around for a long, long time...growing in knowledge with each
investigation and partnership.
