Bucksville House, Part 2

Members Present- KennyB, DonnaB, BobR, StevenA, and DickB

Date(s)- February 12, 2002.

History- The Bucksville House was built in 1795 by Captain Nicolas Buck. The house actually sat on 64 acres that Catp. Buck also owned. There were several log buildings on the property, which were torn down. Capt. Buck built three stone buildings...a blacksmith shop, a wheelright shop and his own residence. He had a small hotel business that his son, Nocholas Jr., expanded on after his father's death. In 1840, Nicholas Jr. built the Bucksville Hotel which was attached to the shops. A local legend says that the building was a speakeasy during the 1920's and was an active tavern up until the 1930's.

Reported Activity- There is a good amount of witnessed activity going on here. A cleaning lady had expirienced an entity touching her on the shoulder and telling her to turn off her vacuum cleaner. A guest was treated to a first class room cleaning by two colonial dressed maids who apperently disappeared after walking out the door. There is a ghost who likes to play checkers and another who steals pillows and bed curtains. Still another likes to rearrange decorative items. On several previous visits, members experienced cold spots, strange feelings of being watched and photographic anomolies.

Report of Investigation- The investigation started with the group breaking up and performing different "static" condition measurements. Donna took video of all of the rooms and identified different objects in those rooms. Kenny took physical measurements of all of the rooms. Dick took temperature readings and Bob took EMF readings. While this was going on, Steve conducted an interview with Barbara and Joe.

When the investigation officially kicked off, Donna, Dick, and Bob, Team 1 were in the Biddle Room (Unofficially named for Kenny and Donna staying a weekend in this room!). They spent approx. 20 minutes in this room. On a couple of pictures, both Dick and Bob were able to get what appears to be a rather small orb. Bob would like to compare these pictures before making any conclusion. Nothing really seemed to be happening in this room. At one point Donna had the chills, but she blamed a draft coming from the stairs for it. They tried for approx. 10 minutes to get EVP's but that proved fruitless.

Kenny and Steve made up Team 2, which started up in the third floor suite. Both men moved about the "living room" area for a time before settling in on opposite sides of the bedroom. Recording was done and pictures were taken, unfortunately, we did not turn up any results. We learned that a recent addition to the some of the rooms is "fake" fireplaces. The owners related to us that since they're installation, they have turned on by themselves. Steve and Kenny made a point to check these fireplaces for timers or any kind of automated device that would allow them to activate. The only thing we found was that they worked by remote control. This does allow for outside natural interference to be a suspect. We plugged in each fireplace to see what would happen. None turned on.

Team 1 (Donna, Dick and Bob) then moved into the checkers room. No positive pictures were obtained. We tried for EVP's again, but were unable to get any positive results. After about 15 minutes, they headed down to the kitchen area. While there, Bob thought he caught something moving past the windows outside. He ran to see if it was anything, but there was nothing could be found. Bob is uncertain about the validity of this experience because before the investigation started, Barbara showed him a picture that she had taken with what appears to be a face looking through the window, into the sitting area. Bob believe he may have been biased towards that type of experience.

Team 2 (Steve and Kenny) moved into the Biddle room, again taking up seats on opposite sides of the room. Again, we were unable to obtain any positive results. We played a little with the fireplace in this room, before calling it quits.

Team 1 spent a little while by the fireplace, warming up and talking to Barbara. They then decided to move into the sitting room while Kenny and Steve went to the Biddle room. While in the sitting room, Dick and Bob both captured what appears to be the same orb from two different parts of the room. These pictures will also need to be compared before we can draw any conclusions. We also spent some time in the sitting room attempting to get EVP's. At one point Bob asked for subject to make a noise. Donna and Bob both heard a creaking sound coming from Bob's right. Bob asked for the noise to be made again and once again they heard it. The second time may have been captured on the recorder, but we need to pull it onto the computer and confirm. We rapped up soon after that.

Conclusion and Impressions; Three of our members have been to this location several times prior, and we all agree that it was a rather quiet night. On previous visits, we have had good results from experiments we have performed. But, it can't be good all the time.

We do have an open invitation to come back, and we do plan on it. Although I still feel that there are entities here, I think that the onslaught of new people was a bit intimidating to them. Remember, we all have the idea that ghosts retain the personality they had while living. Therefore, if you have a ghost from the 1800's, they may be taken aback by instruments like thermal scanners, electromagnetic detectors and digital recorders! Hopefully, we'll have better luck next time.
