The Bucksville House, Part 3

Dates- October 15, 2002

Times- 7:30 to 11:00 PM

Those Present- Patty, Steve, Dan, Jim and Kenny

History- For the history of the Bucksville, please see the previous Case Reports.

Reported Activity- Since our last visit, a "psychic" visited the site (as well as other B&Bs in Bucks County), and a film crew documented her claims. Unfortunately, during the documentary, she had made it known several times that she had prior knowledge of many of the sites. Any "new" information provided by her will not be included here. All prior activity can be found in previous Case Reports.

Report of Events- We gathered in the dining room to store and check our equipment. After a tour for Patty, Dan and Jim (this was their first visit), we split into two teams.

Team 1 consisted of Patty and Dan. Team 2 consisted of Kenny, Steve and Jim. Due to several previous investigations of the Bucksville, we attempted to be a bit more aggressive in our methods. Research that was done revealed two lists of names; one of all of the owners from builder to the present, and one of all of the license holders from when it was a hotel/tavern. In addition to other historical information we've uncovered and these names, we directed our efforts towards individuals we knew to own and/or spend time here.

It was decided that Team 1(T1) was going to start on the first floor while Team 2(T2) would begin in the third floor attic suite. Steve, Jim and Kenny set up a video camera on the second floor, facing the checkers room. The video could also see the top of the 1st to 2nd floor stairs, Checkers room (for our purposes, we have nicknamed the room to the left of the stairs the checkers room, due to the large checkers boards on the table) and bookshelf area. T2 then headed up another flight of stairs to the attic.

Team 1 (Patty and Dan) started in the main Sitting Room. Within 5 minutes of recording, Patty felt a cool breeze next to her on the couch. Dan also reported feeling as though someone had sat down next to Patty. A moment later, both investigators caught the smell of perfume. After it dissipated, they continued with the questions. Patty reported hearing heavy, footsteps (boots) outside the window. She reported that they moved from the window beside the original front door, past a second window, rounded the corner of the house and came to rest in front of the third window. The session ended when Patty felt something touch the back of her neck. T1 moved to the second sitting room, also known as the TV room. Dan reported experiencing the "chills" in this room, as he did in the Main sitting room. Both investigators again caught the odor of perfume, although both reported that it took a few minutes before it was detected in the room.

Team 2 (Steve, Jim and Kenny)- We set up in the sitting room of the attic suite, all three of us using audio recorders. Kenny had a low frequency microphone attached to a micro-cassette recorder and a pair of headphones, allowing him to hear what the recorder heard. This proved valuable, for in the first few minutes of the EVP session, Kenny reported hearing the very faint sound of two female voices in conversation. After it died down, Kenny explained to the others what he had heard. While talking about this, Jim said "Maybe they're talking to us". As Jim was talking, Kenny heard a whisper at the same time. The tape needs to be reviewed before making any conclusions. During the Q&A session, Steve reported catching movement by the steps to the right of Kenny. Using a night vision scope, he was unable to see anything. At the same time, Jim noticed that a gap between the stairs and the couch was somewhat black. At first he really thought nothing of it. But later when Jim looked over, he noticed that he could see the same spot and actually see the light wallpaper on the opposite wall. Several times the spot would once again look dark, and then seconds later Jim could see the wall. Jim said that it looks almost as if, someone was standing in the area and looking around.

While continuing the EVP session, we asked for a sign of a presence. What we got was a floorboard creaking in the bedroom, as if someone took a step. Steve also reported feeling warm at times. Note that the heat was not on, nor were the fireplaces on. Another question was asked, "Can you touch Jim on the shoulder". This produced a significant temperature reading. The average temp on the third floor was 65 degrees. The temp between Jim and the wall dropped from 65 to 56, then a few seconds later it jumped up to 85 degrees. The result was a 9-degree drop, then a 20 (A 29 degree spike from the "drop" temp of 56).

The teams then switched positions, with T1 heading upstairs to the second floor and T2 going outside on the grounds on the house.

T1 (Patty and Dan)- Started out in the "Checkers" room (Room on the left at the top of the stairs). Interestingly, they again reported the perfume smell as soon as they entered and again about ten minutes later. During their recording session, both investigators heard footsteps come up the stairs…but only halfway. They didn't hear anyone come the rest of the way up, nor go back down. Thinking it was another member who saw the motion sensors at the top of the stairs (and didn't want to set them off), Patty called to the other team on the two-way radio. T2 was in the Main Sitting room and had not entered the stairway, nor did they walk up the stairs. Patty and Dan checked the stairs as well as Kenny from T2. Nothing was detected. T1 decided to try another room, and as they went to leave, Dan felt that there was someone in the bathroom and investigated. On exiting the bathroom, he asked Patty to take a picture of him. After doing so, Dan said to take another one, which Patty did. The first shows nothing, while the second shows an orb right next to Dan.

T2 (Steve, Jim and Kenny)- They walked the length of the property, ending up at a pond with a small wooden bridge over the middle. It is here that they decided to settle for their next Q&A session. Kenny reported nothing, but Steve reported feeling that someone was at the end of the bridge. After about 25 minutes out here, the team decided to go back in. They set up in the Main sitting room for another Q&A session. Approximately 10 minutes later is when Team 1 radioed us, asking if we were on the stairs.

Another switch had Team 1 in the Biddle Room (room directly over dining room) and Team 2 in the TV Room. T1 conducted a Q&A session without any experiences. Team 2 had no results in the TV Room, so they decided to stop early and begin to pack up. All the team's gear was in the Dinning Room and while packing up, Steve, Jim and Kenny heard a loud bang from the room above (The Biddle Room). Right after the bang, footsteps were heard stepping down into the room and walking across to where we heard the bang. All three investigators on Team 2 experienced this. Kenny's first thought was that something was knocked over and possible damaged. Then Steve noted that someone had walked into the room after the noise. We walked up to investigate, finding Patty and Dan in the room. Kenny asked what fell, and was greeted by looks of puzzlement. After speaking about it, we found that Patty, while sitting in a chair, had kicked over a footstool. She had picked it up, but both investigators were already in the room and had remained seated. No one got up and walked across the room until they had heard Kenny come up the stairs.

One last thing to note, we have a two-page document of questions to ask during EVP (Q&A) sessions. Patty had the document last, and remembers placing it on a bookshelf by the second floor landing. This was the last place any of the investigators saw the papers. It was found in Kenny's laptop case, secured on top of the laptop and file for the Bucksville. Kenny had been showing Barbara (The owner) some things on the laptop, while the search was going on for these papers. We are still uncertain how the document got into the case.

Conclusion and Impressions-

Kenny- My take on the Bucksville still remains the same…there are several entities here. I believe that they are getting used to us poking around the place. We explored the grounds due to this is where the original owner trained a local militia. Although we didn't have anything positive there, we might have simply been in the wrong area. We can try again next time.
