Base Readings
EMF- An EMF field was detected at the top of the stairs on the 2nd floor, around the doorway to the child's room. This field remained constant throughout the night, lending to the assumption it is created by the house's main wiring running up to the upper floors.
Temp- The Basement-20 to 104 (A draft in the rear of the basement-20 degrees- was found and the heater in the front caused the 104), 1st Floor (Main)-49 at the back door to 80, 2nd Floor-68 to 81, 3rd Floor- 54 to 60.
Geiger- The entire house was scanned with negative results.
Reported Activity- Several witnesses, including the owner, have had experiences ranging from a dark gray misty human form hovering by the stairs to seeing the face of a man in the living room and 2nd floor bedroom. Others have experienced a feeing of emptiness. Most of the reported activity occurs between 10 and 11 pm.
Report of Investigation- We began the investigation by doing our Base Readings. Bob and Kenny conducted the interview with the owner while Steve and Jim sketched out floor plans, took EMF, Geiger and Thermal base readings and Reference Photos.
We split into two small teams. Team 1 included Bob, Kenny and Sandy (Owner). Team 2 included Steve and Jim. A video camera was set up to cover the first floor stairway. We conducted four 20-minute sessions and then an hour-long session with all the members present. Both teams had a list of 5 specific questions they were to ask during each session. These were personal questions to the owner and the answers were not given to any of the investigators. A sealed envelope containing the questions and answers is now in the possession of Kenny. He will not open the open the envelope unless the team gets an EVP associated with those specific questions.
Session 1
Team 1 set up in the basement. Bob sat at the bottom of the stairs with his night shot video camera. Kenny and Sandy sat a few feet from him. During our Q&A, Kenny noticed movement in the front section of the basement. Kenny looked at it through a night vision scope and saw what appeared to be an arm, from the elbow to the hand, wave at him. It lasted a few seconds and then vanished. Kenny moved back and forth, attempting to duplicate the effect he witnessed, but was unable to.
Team 2 sets up on the second floor. Both investigators reported hearing two distinct footsteps outside the bedroom door. Understand that from the stairs, one passes through one bedroom (the child's room), then through a door to the main bedroom. Both bedrooms were closed off. The footsteps came from the child's bedroom.
Session 2
Team 1 moved to the first floor, living room area. Kenny sat on a couch in the computer room; Sandy sat on the floor in the same room, while Bob set up in the living room with his night vision video camera. Kenny began with the Q&A session. It was when Sandy took over asking the questions that Kenny observed three orbs. Two were white, but looked more like half-moons then full orbs. The third was a bright red in color. These were observed without the use of any devices. The "half-moon" effect looked the way an object would when put up to a light source. The side facing the light is bright, while the opposite side is dark. This is the same effect Kenny observed.
Team 2 moved to the third floor. They set up in the larger of the two rooms, which had been used as the master bedroom a few years prior. Nothing was observed during this session.
Session 3
Team 1 moved upstairs to the third floor. They set up in what was the old main bedroom. Bob set up by the far window, Sandy was sitting on the floor in the middle of the room, and Kenny was standing by the door. Bob began the Q&A session. Sandy took over, asking the 5 personal questions. Kenny ended the session. Nothing was observed during this session.
Team 2 went down to the 1st floor. Steve sat in the living room while Jim sat in the Den. During the Q&A session, Steve heard a rather loud knock on the TV. When questioned on the matter, he described it as tapping your knuckle on the glass. This sound is distinctly different then the TV components "settling".
Session 4
Team 1 went down to the 2nd floor, in the child's room. We set up with Bob at the door leading to the hallway and stairs, Kenny and Sandy inside the room by the windows. Sandy took a turn asking the questions. Bob observed and recorded an orb moving across the room in front of Sandy about 10 minutes into the session. A few times during this session, Kenny caught movement of a dark shape by the door that separated the two bedrooms. After the session was over, Sandee mentioned that she also witnessed movement in the same area. A quick check determined that it was not an outside influence.
Team 2 headed down to the basement. Jim felt uncomfortable in this area. The session could not be conducted in this area at this time due to noise from the neighbors.
Session 5
Both teams are together for this last session. It was just about 10 pm and we were right on schedule. Most of the activity seems to happen between the hours of 10 and 11 pm and is focused in the living room area near the main stairs. We each took our places; Bob was set up in the living room, Steve was in the kitchen/dining room area, Sandy was seated on the couch in the computer room, Jim was positioned at the top of the main stairs and Kenny was sitting at the bottom. It was decided that Sandy, the owner, would lead the Q&A session.
At about 10:30, Jim witnessed a dark apparition in the 2nd floor bedroom, just off the main stairs. Because Jim was sitting at the top of the stairs, the apparition was standing over him. He stated that it was about three feet from him and appeared as a dark figure, kind of tall and well built. The figure was standing with his arms folded and head tilted to one side. Kenny and Bob went up to the second floor to investigate. Nothing was found.
Conclusion and Impression;
Kenny- Even without the personal accounts of my teammates, I would state with confidence that there is at least one entity residing in this house. The "waving arm" is definitely a first for me. The orbs I witnessed with the naked eye were also captured on film. The reaction I saw in Jim (after witnessing the dark figure) was, to me, genuine. I was at the bottom of the stairs watching him when his experience occurred. A conversation with Steve during and after the investigation leads me to believe that his (Steve's) experience in the kitchen was also genuine.
The owner of the house believes that one entity is that of her late husband. She had witnessed the image of his face appear next to her in the living room. At first, I was unsure about this. Only because the husband has not been gone too long and she may have been experiencing "wishful apparitions", as in seeing what she wanted to see or hoped to see. But we had a definite communication between at least one entity and our investigators. I am reluctant to include this, only because the evidence was lost. But I will explain.
Sandee (the owner) had written down five specific questions that only her and her husband would know the answers to. A copy of these questions was given to both teams and Sandee herself sealed the answers in an envelope. The answers were given to me to hold. After the investigation was over and we had all gone home, I reviewed my recordings in my office. Out of three recorders, only one had operated normally. The standard cassette tape recorded our sessions, but with a muffled sound…like the microphone had been covered. The micro-cassette recorder had recorded nothing. The blank tape was still blank, but was at the end of the side. When tested at home, these devices operated normally. The digital recorder was the only device that operated, as it should have, at least for the moment. During the Q&A session, Sandee asked her specific questions. After the question "What was the fastest motorcycle you owned?" a male voice spoke in a low whisper. It said, "pig vomit". This is where the final problem came into play. As I tried to replay the EVP, I watched (in horror) as the device went through the cycle of erasing all of the files stored in the memory. I lost over 20 files, including the one with this EVP.
Now, after speaking with Sandee and explaining what had happened, she felt that this answer was significant, but not to that question. During our team meeting, Sandee was present and verified that the envelope containing the answers had not been tampered with. We opened the envelope and found that an answer to the question "What was the nick name we gave to bad breath?" was "putrid pig vomit breath". This question had been asked just before the one we got the EVP to. Although there was a delay, it seems that a message got through.
More research, as always, needs to be done. We do plan on going back up, perhaps for an overnight investigation. That should prove interesting.
