The Peace Light Memorial |
This photograph was taken by Jeff during a weekend trip. After taking the photo, he noticed what appears to be a figure. When he set up to take the photo, he checked to make sure no one was in walking on the monument. He was looking to get a good shot of the Peace light, and only the Peace Light. after sending this photograph in, we scheduled some time to check out the situation. We spent about 2 hours on at the Peace Light, pouring over details, surveying the landscape and background...everything to see what was going on here. Oh, here's the photograph in question...The one on the left (and largest) is the original, unaltered photograph sent to me by Jeff, taken March 16th, 2005 (as you can see in the photo). On the side are close up views of the figure in question. The top one is unaltered, while the bottom one has been enhanced some to show a little more.

He was positioned in the field across the street, near Iverson's Pitts. From observing the scene, we could determine that it was not a tree trunk, a cannon, any type of monument or plaque. With two other members (thanks Donna & Diana), we were able to determine that the size, height and positioning of the figure is right on track. It is not an optical illusion, nor is it a false-positive (another object in the scene appearing as a figure, but is not).

Above is a "fused" photograph (two photos stitched together) to show you the area to the side of, and behind the Peace Light Memorial. If there was something behind the monument that could be seen from our position, then we should be able to see it here. As you can see, there isn't anything that could produce this effect. The plaque just to the right of the center does not come up high enough to be seen from where we were.
At the moment, this is as far as we can go. We can't say 100% that this is an apparition, but it darn well could be. We plan on checking this site out more on future visits. Don't worry, we'll be respectful...as we always are. We'll be looking for a soldier hanging out on the steps. Perhaps we can help this man in some way...
Spangler's Spring
This will be short and...well, boring. There really isn't much to report here. When we arrived at the Spring (after getting a little lost- Thanks Mike!), we found that a Boy Scout troop was camping out on the field right by the Spring. (Hey, why are THEY allowed to camp out on the field...and not us?)

The orbs are most likely dust particles in the air. They're
too faint, white and we didn't detect anything at the time. We didn't even
attempt an EVP session here...the kids were just too loud. We
stood around, taking photographs until Kay arrived.
Kay will be eventually heading up The Gettysburg
Phenomenon. A website and team dedicated to the activity in Gettysburg.
Kay came out to hang with us and to swap stories and such. But, since the kids
were in rare form, we decided to spend what little time we had left in the
Wheatfield. We always seem to have good luck there.
The Wheatfield
We arrived and set up by our
famous cannons. Digital recorders were set up by the monuments and cannons.
Video was set up, as well as several digital cameras. After Mike walked to check
out some things, we started an EVP session. Kenny asked a series of questions,
all focused towards the soldiers who would have been out on that field.
When this session was over, it was time to pack up and get
going. Almost 10 PM and we certainly didn't want to get fined for being in the
park after hours! As we were walking back to the cars, Donna reported being
poked in the back while the questions were being asked. It had bothered her a
bit since it seemed no one else had been experiencing anything. So she had only
moved closer to her husband (cause he's big and mean!). So, we did get
something!
Several photos were taken, but they are under review and will
be posted if anything is found. Of the EVP recordings, only Kenny has reported
in as of this writing with negative results.

Conclusion
Ahhh,
what can we say? We have been here many times, and most have yielded some
strange and exciting results. We didn't get a lot, but we got something. We were
able to go over a possible photograph of an apparition, finding a possible
explanation for it...but not a definate answer.
Spangler Spring was a bust...not because of the lack of
activity, but because of the boy scout troop. There's always next time.
The Wheatfield once again gave us a little excitement.
Although it may not seem like a lot, you stand in the middle of an open field
and get poked by someone who isn't there...then tell me it's not a big deal. It
was a response. Granted, we could use a little more...but it's a start. We've
been going to the Wheatfield for several years now, but only recently
concentrated on one particular spot. Perhaps the lost souls that are trapped in
this area are beginning to recognize us. A trust may be forming that we'll need
to keep building (of course, this is all speculation at the moment).
Please take a
moment to take the Mini-Poll below. We're trying to collect data to see what the
general ideas are. And...Jeff is bugging me about knowing what people think!
