Scranton, Pa- Private Residence

History- This site of the investigation took place in an old house, built in 1902. There are four known previous owners to the house, with the original owners carrying the name Miller. It is a large, three story building with 14 foot ceilings and a total of 32 rooms. We know that an older gentleman, somewhere n his 80s, passed away on the third floor (natural causes). All the floors have had some type of remodeling done. 

Reported Activity- Odors of perfume and cooking (onions and potatoes) have been detected. he doorknob on the basement door has been turned as if someone was trying to open the door. The basement door has been heard slamming shut, when it was already closed. At between 4 and 5 AM, a voice has been heard saying "your case has already been decided". Knives in the kitchen are left flat, then found standing up on their spines. In the living room, a light is seen floating across the ceiling, only to disappear. A red light has also been witnessed. Random cold and hot spots experienced throughout the house. The TV and an old buzzer had been working on their own. The resident cats would react and growl at something detected near the ceiling. 
    When the owners first moved in, "something" would wake one of them up at 5 AM. Now, it seems to be only once in a while. There has been a little girl seen sitting at the edge of the owner's bed. She is described in a tiny, poofed shouldered dress and a ponytail. She would sit and just stare. 
    Another figure has been seen. This one is a dark form. In one instance, one owner saw, reflected in a mirror, someone following him in the basement. When he turned to see who it was, no one was visible. 
    The owners have also heard what sounded like children playing in the basement. Along with that, the owners heard (or got the impression) of music playing, glasses clinking together and laughter of women.

Report of Investigation

The first order of business was to see what we could find in relation to the activity experience that last time the Panther Valley team was here. So, first up was the claim of the basement door knob sounding  like it rattled, but was not seen visually. Then they heard the door slam, but it was already closed. We checked for basement drafts…we found that there are two doors the lead to the outside. No drafts could be detected at either doorway (Heavy doors). At this time, we cannot find logical explanation for that specific event.

Next up was the Sub-Basement- Previous investigation had two members (From Panther Valley) witness a column of light appear while they were seated in a small room. We found that this was most likely a reflection or light leak from above. We performed an experiment with a flashlight carried by Jerry, and later by Kenny (This experiment would duplicate the conditions at the time the event took place). Two individuals sat in the sub-basement at the approx. area where the previous witnesses had been. The person with the flashlight walked around above (There had been a members who was carrying a camcorder and a flashlight on the night the event took place). We were able to duplicate the results with ease. Light could filter in through access holes for pipes in several areas. Light, coming through these areas, will appear as a column of light. I (Kenny) believe this is what was witnessed. When sitting in the dark for some time, you really can't focus on anything. A quick pass of light may be enough to startle anyone. 

On to the Kitchen Events with the knives. After using regular steak knives and laying them flat, the owners would put them down and leave for several minutes. Later, when returning, the knives are found standing up on their spines. Luckily, this incident occurred while we were present, but...not on tape. During basement experiment, approx. 5 to 10 minutes, a knife was found up on it's spine. We set up 2 video cameras (both with night shot)  from two different angles to cover a "set-up" area. Five knives were set up to test them. When the video was collected, the knives had not been tampered with. However, the video still need to be reviewed. Other then the cats (which we were assured are locked out and the phenomenon still happens), we could not find an explanation on how this is done.

Last event we were taking a look at tonight. The owners have witnessed an orb-light in the living room. They have seen it go across the wall at the ceiling and even down low, under an end table. This could be a possible light reflection, although I could not find any significant source of light or valid entry path for the length of travel. We even walked along the outside of the house with a powerful flashlight, in an attempt to duplicate the results. We could not do this satisfactorily.

OK, now that the "debunking" section was over, we moved on to some EVP sessions. We first set up in the main bedroom. All were present for this session. Jerry began asking some questions, followed by the owners and continued by Kenny. I (Kenny) had three recorders going (2 digitals, 1 analog). There was an 8 degree drop when Mike asked about a little girl appearing at the bottom of the bed (This is where the girl appears). I have two possible hits on my recordings in this room, but they still need review before we post them.

Another EVP session was performed in the basement. During this session, Kenny experienced a very sudden, and very cold chill come up his back. The temperature dropped from 71 to 61 degrees just behind where Kenny was sitting. Rick and Meredith confirmed similar experiences just seconds after Kenny.

As always, the EVP recordings need to be evaluated...and then re-evaluated to be sure of what we got. Photos need to be re-evaluated, but we may have captured something "wierd". Video will be reviewed as well, even though the knives were not touched.
