Subject Category- Trolley Tour
Description- A 45-minute trolley ride through the streets of Cape May, NJ. The guide will relate the paranormal findings of Ghost Writer Craig McManus at various properties along the way. The tout begins at the Washington Street Mall Information Booth. $10 for adults, $5 for children (ages 3-12). Sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC).
The Good- It didn't last long.
The Bad-
Where to start? It was very hot and sticky inside those trolleys. This made it
somewhat uncomfortable while waiting for the tour to get started. I'm surprised
they have not equipped the vehicles with some type of A/C unit, or at least fans.
However, when we did get started, I found the tour itself to be very lacking.
Too much was based off of a "psychic", which if you've had a chance to
look around....means that we weren't too thrilled with that. What made it worse
was when the guide said "Our psychic usually performs his investigation
BEFORE he notifies the owners (he does this during tours). This just leaves it
all open for him to research the site, then walk in and look like he's "in
touch with the other side".
The trolley didn't stop at any of the places. It slowed down
if you were lucky. I didn't like this at all, since you really didn't get a good
look at any of the places. This is why I prefer the walking tours. I also
noticed, that many of the stories and even the "one-liners" were
borrowed from the other tours and/or books that already tell the ghost stories
in Cape May. The one-liners are the little jokes written into the scripted
stories....yeah, this tour "borrowed" many. I find that just in poor
taste.
The guide also explained that some of the popular stories
were wrong, and they're psychic had found out...through research or his
impressions. Now, I mean no disrespect to anyone who can really perform this
type of phenomenon, but I have experienced this particular psychics
"power". He has none, as far as I'm concerned.
The guide was, at times, very confusing in telling the
stories. More then once I turned to my friends and asked "WHAT is she
talking about?". There was no time for questions, which is a downer for me.
There was also no proof or evidence of any of the psychic claims. No photos,
EVPs....nothing.
My Call- Don't waste your time or money. You'd do better to buy the Cape May Ghost stories books by Charlie Adams. You'll get all the stories, without any of the B.S. I forked over the money and bought Craig's book. I'm sorry I did...but that review will be up later.
