ACTIVE ADULT ACTIVITIES

THE ACTIVE ADULT PROGRAM

The Active Adult Program is sponsored by the Burr Ridge Park District and the Village of Willowbrook.  All residents of these agencies over the age of 50 are invited and encouraged to participate in any or all aspects of the program.

General Information

How do I register for programs?  Please use the registration form found in the Scoop or Park District brochure to register for trips and activities found.  Please note that only residents of Burr Ridge Park District and the Village of Willowbrook receive the lower rate.  

The Scoop: The Scoop is a bi-monthly newsletter that details the events, times and locations of

Active Adult activities.

Scoop Subscription: The fee is $9 per year beginning in January.

 

ACTIVE ADULT DAILY ACTIVITIES

To join in one of the following programs, please contact Lavonne Campbell at 920-1969 unless otherwise stated.  All programs are at Rustic Acres, Garfield Rd. just  south of 91st Street.

Pinochle Tuesday 1-4 p.m.

This is one of the largest groups and is made up of both men and women.

Bridge Thursday 12:30-4 p.m.

If you enjoy playing social bridge, need to keep up your skills and like friendly people, this game is for you.

Duplicate Bridge Wednesdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

If you are an experienced bridge player and enjoy competition, then this group is for you.

The last frontier of great fishing in urban areas is our rivers. Join resident river fishing expert George

Scukanec, holder of over 1850 Illinois Big Fish Awards,for this class. Bring your spinning and/or

Learn the basics of stained glass using the copper foil technique to make a beautiful panel. This 3-week class includes

Introduction to Lead Came
Learn the technique of lead came through lecture and demonstration. Lead design, leading tools, leading preparations, came soldering and cementing of a small window will be covered during the 3-week course. Tools provided by studio.

Mosaic
Learn to create a stained glass project without foiling and soldering. You will learn tips and techniques to help you create
a small mosaic based on direct method during the two classes. The second class will be one hour used to grout

Tuesday Night Knitting

This popular, free class meets the second and fourth Tuesdays at 7:00pm each month in the beautiful

Community Center Lobby. The class is for beginners and accomplished knitters and is a “drop in” class.
