Welcome to the home of the most mature and best documented solution to the problem of enterprise integration on the Internet
The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) defines an architecture as "the structure of the components, their relationships, and the principles and guidelines governing their design and evolution over time." (IEEE 610.2)
The architecture presented in this e-book is data centric and composed of two major and nine minor data components and one management component. It is structured to perform seamlessly and efficiently in support of all of the automated business operations, business intelligence and data management functions of the enterprise.
Business operations are supported by the Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) component using a relational data architecture. Business intelligence is supported by the Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) component using a multi-dimensional data architecture. Enterprise data management, data quality assurance, data mining, the production and maintenance of enterprise and application databases, data marts and data warehouses, the archive and feeds to and from external sources are supported by the Online Management Processing (OLMP) component.
The OLTP component contains one enterprise database and many application databases. The OLAP component contains one enterprise data warehouse and/or several data warehouses and many data marts. The OLMP component contains the data management toolset, an archive and gateways to and from the outside world. The OLTP and OLAP components are business user facilities and the OLMP component is a data management facility.
This e-book contains over 1,100 pages of information that establish a new paradigm for the integrated Enterprise Data Architecture. It is a practical reference for the information technology professional. Organized hierarchically and amplified by more than 750 illustrations, it contains database and data warehouse concepts, techniques, data, process and object models, components, patterns, processes and views. There are downloadable example and installable database prototypes, PowerPoint presentations, database viewer, query library and data quality analysis and data migration tools.
