This Enterprise Data Architecture is component-based and constructed from patterns, which are proven solutions to known problems. The major relational database ( OLTP) and multi-dimensional data warehouse ( OLAP) components are built from nine minor components. The minor components are the building blocks of the architecture. Each of the minor components solves a particular data storage problem in OLTP and facilitates the creation of the OLAP components. The data management ( OLMP) toolset manages the creation of new OLTP datasets and the creation and incremental updates of OLAP.
