This British Aerogram was postmarked on the day I was born - June 26, 1962.
So far it is only the second cover I have ever found postmarked on that date (see cover below).

Here is a closeup.
My mother was probably in labor when this was postmarked at
7pm in Great Britain.

This is a Brazilian First Day Cover (Scott 940) issued on June 26, 1962.
This stamp honors 100 years of the introduction of the metric system.
I just found this cover along with 3 others sitting in a box in my collection.
I never noticed the date until today (4/8/06).

I grew up in the town of Lincoln Park, NJ.
What I find strange about this cover is that Lincoln Park was
known as Beavertown, NJ up until 1922.
I am not sure why it is being refered to as Lincoln Park in 1875.
Now I know why this cover mentions Lincoln Park - This is from the Lincoln Park Website:
Lincoln Park was originally a part of Pequannock and was referred to as Two Bridges
and then Beavertown. The present name was adopted in 1872. In 1922, after a referendum
was submitted to the voters,
the separate Borough of Lincoln Park was established.

One of the main roads in the town is Comly Rd.

While in the Navy, I served aboard the USS Hoel (DDG-13)
I was the Postal Clerk aboard the ship and actually postmarked this cover myself.
I have searched thousands of Naval Covers and this is the only I could find that I cancelled.

Here is another cover I just received today (12/22/06) which I won on Ebay from a seller in Israel for 99 cents.
This may be the best item I purchased this year. The seller described the cover as being dated April 21, 1988,
but I am 100% positive that it is dated April 2nd. The extra ink to the right of the 2 is from the date slug,
which tilted a bit to the left. My last day of active military service was April 8, 1988,
which means this cover
was canceled six days before my discharge.
The interesting thing about this cover is that April 2nd was a Saturday. Normally I didn't work
on Saturdays unless I had duty. But the following day, April 3rd the postage rates were
increasing from 22 cents to 25 cents. I had to cancel all the mail that was in my mailbox
so that the mailers would not get hit with the extra 3 cents. Since I was working, I decided
to accept mail that day and I received a request from a collector of Naval Cancels to process
this cover. This may be one of the last covers that I cancelled, ever, while on board the ship.
I had duty, the next day, which was a Sunday the 3rd, there was no mail processing. Then my
ship sailed for operational purposes on Monday the 4th thru Friday the 8th. I didn't do much
that Monday through Friday as I was training my replacement. And once we pulled in, I stepped
off that ship for the very last time and became a civilian.

I currently live in Glen Ridge, NJ
