Player Eligibility The OSAA eligibility for schools that offer five classes (Southridge) is that the student/player must take at least four classes and pass four classes during the trimester just prior to the season (for Southridge that's the 2nd Trimester) and during the season (for Southridge that's the 3rd Trimester). There is no OSAA GPA requirement, however The Beaverton School District grade policy is the student/player must record no F's or Incompletes in any of the classes and must maintain at least an overall GPA of 2.00. If the student/player does not maintain a 2.00 GPA or had an F or an Incomplete in any class, during the 2nd Trimester, the student/player can regain eligibility after three weeks of the new trimester (the 3rd Trimester) by showing an adequate progress report. Incompletes that are not cleared after the 1st week are treated as an F. Progress Report forms are available at the School. There is no appeal for student/players who did not take four classes during the qualifying trimesters. Consult with your school counselor for more details on how this works. Our Team does not allow student/players who are ineligible by OSAA and District standards to compete in games or practices. Although OSAA and District rules DO allow an ineligible student/player to participate in practices, but NOT games, your Coaching Staff is committed to the belief that education comes first and, as such, have agreed that if grades are at issue then the student/player's time would be better spent on school work and making up the grades in order to regain eligibility, than on the practice field. Therefore, any student/player who is ineligible due to grades will NOT be allowed to participate in games OR practices. Grade improvements to the standard will cause the player to be re-instated on the Team Roster. Failure to meet these requirements by the extended date will result in player deletion from the Team Roster for the remainder of the season. Players must also adhere to Southridge High School rules and regulations. Southridge High School Administration or Staff may approach the Coaching Staff with a request that we suspend or dismiss a player for disciplinary reasons and our agreement with the School is that we will honor that request. Appeals for Team reinstatement must be directed to the School and reinstatement will only occur after School approval.Dues will NOT be refunded to players cut for grades or discipline issues. |

| Rules for Practice Posted October 20, 2008 Your Coaches and Captains have observed that the occasional lack of attention and distractions at practices causes undo stress on the Team, which has an ultimate effect on Game Play. In order to maintain order and discipline during practices your Varsity Captains have constructed a set of Rules and Consequences, which take effect the first day of practice.. If a Player, during any practice, is fooling or clowning around and the behavior causes a distraction (i.e. a Coach or another Player has to ask the Player to stop and pay attention) the offending Player will run a Lap. A second such offense during the same practice will cause the Player to be dismissed from Practice and that entire Practice will not count and Game Eligibility Rules will apply. Leaving practice early is the same as NOT attending practice for purposes of these sanctions. If a Player is asked to leave Practice on a day before a Game, the offending Player will not be allowed to play a full quarter of that next day Game, during any quarter that the Player would have played. If the offending Player repeats any such distracting behavior a second time during the week following the intial offense the Player will be dismissed from practice and will be suspended for the next Game. If a Player acts outwardly hostile to another Player, during any practice or Game, or at any time during which Players interact under the color of the Southridge Lacrosse Team, the offending Player will be given a Warning and will run a Lap, depending on the severity of the offense. Depending on the severity of the behavior the Coach may discipline the Player further, up to and including dismissal from the Team. If the offending Player repeats any outwardly hostile act(s) towards another Player, the offending Player will be suspended for the next Game. Depending on the severity of the behavior, the offense may be such as to cause the Coach to discipline the Player further, up to and including dismissal from the Team and removal from the Team Roster. We have had no such incidents during the four year history of our Team, so your Coaches expect that this will not be a sanction we will ever have to enforce. We do not believe that what we are asking is too much to expect from High School Lacrosse Players. Our discipline on the Practice and Game field will reflect in our level of play. |
