Required Equipment
Posted December 1, 2008
Here is a list of Required Equipment:
Helmet:
In 2009 we are changing the color sequence for ALL Southridge helmets so that Varsity & JV players have the same helmet and color design. This will add a cost since we would require that ALL players buy their own helmet based on the specifications the Team designates. In past years Helmets had to be Black and made by Cascade; any Model of Cascade was permitted and only BLACK face grills were permitted; chrome, silver or any other color were NOT permitted in the interest of Team uniformity.
The new Team Helmet is the Cascade Pro 7. The Pro 7 has several advantages including a concussion preventative design & universal fitting. The color sequence will be a Black shell; Maroon visor & chin; Old gold mohawk & vents; black grill; black straps. Click here to see the helmet & design. The cost would be about $150. Since the visor & chin will be maroon there is no way to convert players' helmets that are already all black, although we are considering allowing those players who cannot afford the additional $150 to continue to use their all black helmets for the 2009 season.
We will be loaning Pro 7 helmets to Seniors who make Varsity so they do not have to purchase the new helmet (unless they want to). Juniors, sophomores & freshmen, however, will need the new helmet. The plan is for the Team to buy ALL the helmets initially (based on registration numbers) and then to sell/issue them at the Uniform Meeting on February 28, 2009. Those helmets will be "player owned".
We are also looking at new uniforms for the JV team(s) (similar to Varsity). This will depend on how the budget looks by January 9.
Gloves:
Must be Black or Black & White for Varisty & JV;
Shoulder Pads:
Your choice here, but they must have shoulder caps and they must cover the chest below the zyphoid process. No modifications from the original manufacturer. The fit must also be correct. Your Coaches can help you with this if you are unsure;
Arm Guards:
Again, your choice, but make sure that the important areas are covered: elbow, forearm and bicep;
Stick:
Which includes Head (WHITE only) and Shaft (SILVER preferred). Your choice on the type of head and shaft, but ALL players will start with a short stick; add a long pole if you want to play Defense, but if you play Defense, you will still need a short stick, in case your Coaches want you at a position other than Defense. ALL players must have two game sticks. Remember the 'Head' and 'Shaft' may be purchased separately and the 'Head' can be strung with a variety of materials. We recommend 'Hard Mesh' for the weather conditions in this area;
Athletic supporter and cup:
Goalies should consider Hockey groin protection; Field players can use commercially available models. Protex Defence All-Purpose Cup, however, is the best; Bike brand works as well;
Mouth Guard:
The simple $1 version will do, but there are some more expensive models out there like Shock Doctor;
Moulded cleats:
3/4 height, for grass fields (football shoes work fine; there are specialize Lacrosse shoes on the market);
Turf Shoe :
Also 3/4 height); required Varsity & JV since we will be playing on turf most of the time;
Compression Shorts:
For 2009 Players must wear BLACK compression shorts under game shorts;
Undershirts
For 2009 Players must wear BLACK undershirts with the Black Away Jerseys and WHITE undershirts with the White Home Jerseys. We will decide, as a Team, which type of undershirts we will all wear and purchase.
If you have any questions, contact your Coaches.

Game Uniforms
Posted October 20, 2008
Game Jerseys & Game Shorts are Team equipment.
The Team will issue Game Jerseys to ALL Varsity & JV1 Players on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Coach Campbell's house. ALL players must be there for Uniform distribution. Note the time by Team:
○ JV & JV2 at 1:00 PM;
○ Varsity at 2:00 PM.
If you have other commitments remember that this IS the date & time to do this. If you cannot be there you must send a parent in your place. If there is any uniform sizing to be done and you send someone in your place, make sure they know what size you wear. There will little or no time to change this later.
Also remember that this is the meeting where you can order Team apparel and game-day undershirts. Players MUST wear Black undershirts for AWAY games & White undershirts for HOME games.
Here is the agenda:
ALL remaining Dues must also be paid at this time. Uniforms, etc., will not be issued to Players who do not pay the remainder of the Dues;
Reimbursement of pre-paid Dues to cut players begins (mailed to address on Registration paperwork);
Order Team Apparel (not mandatory, just if you want it);
Order BLACK & WHITE undershirts - Nike dry-fit. If you have something comparable there is no need to buy these. Cost to be determined;
○ All players must have one for each game uniform (1 Black & 1 White).
