N2 Miniature Club News
In the 1990s I became fascinated with miniatures. My first exposure to an elaborate dollhouse occurred when I visited the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry and saw Colleen Moore's Fairy Castle. The wonder of this structure stayed with me through the years, and the seed grew.
My first project was a miniature book store (Clues) done in quarter inch size. (One quarter inch = one foot) Fortunately, I made this project with a miniatures group and had a pattern for the structure. The furnishings, however, are my own. The desk in particular is my own design.
Currently, I'm working on a number of projects:
- a one-inch size house in which to put the various smaller projects I've made
- a 1/144 inch size house--I've made these for my daughters and my mother and decided that I'd like one for myself
- a quarter inch flower shop for my daughter and her husband--this is taking more time than I'd planned since I'm making the structure and the interior from scratch, using no patterns
- various quarter inch projects including a potting shed
