Hello! My name is Patricia Shirra and I'm a writer for children and young adults. I have been a Freelance Educational Writer since 2005.
Using Math content development experience, knowledge of NCTM Standards and best practices in Pre-K/K topics I authored ten lessons for a Pre-K/K Math Teacher's Resource Guide for use with Learning Resources® Math manipulatives (Schawk Publishing Solutions, Evanston, IL.) I also developed and taught "The Dream Catcher," an inclusive English Language Arts, Social Studies and Visual Arts lesson to second graders in the Boston Public School system while matriculating in the Elementary Education program at Lesley University.
I am the author of an early chapter book that focuses on Autism, which is being marketed for publication. I'm currently writing a coming of age fiction novel about a 16-year-old boy suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome. See Sneak Previews on the SITE MENU for a synopsis of both manuscripts. I have 24 years of experience in business and corporate writing acquired as a Business Systems Analyst and Curriculum Developer & Trainer at a large financial institution. I'm a novice web designer and created this site to showcase my burgeoning creative writing and fledgling web design skills. Please send all comments about this site, its content and/or any broken links to me at patriciashirra@comcast.net. Thank you!
