The Tay River Watershed lies along the southeastern edge of the Canadian Shield in Eastern Ontario's Frontenac and Lanark Counties. Its headwaters are in the Bobs Lake and Crow Lake system in south Frontenac and it flows through Lanark County to discharge into the Big Rideau Lake at the south eastern boundary of Lanark.

The image above shows the watershed as seen from an altitude of just over 22 miles.

Besides being a land of unsurpassed beauty and tranquility, the Tay Watershed is a valuable material asset. It is a useable, publicly accountable asset, essential to the economic well being of the community. As taxpayers, citizens have a right to expect that good management of this community owned asset prevails.

Management of this resource has been vested in federal, provincial and municipal civil servants under the direction of elected MPs, MPPs and Councillors in compliance with established federal and provincial laws and regulations. When this management team fails to manage the watershed wisely, citizens may find they have to take steps to protect this valuable community asset.
