A Fictional Work by Sharon Grant of SwayzeMania
As the minutes ticked down, Tracey dribbled the ball down the court. With four seconds remaining on the clock a tall, strong girl from the other team knocked the ball out of her hand and the ref blew the whistle sending Tracey to the free throw line. The score was 50 to 51 and her team was behind. It was a one and one situation. Tracey had to make both freethrows to win the championship game for the Milburn Musketeers.
She walked to the free throw line and took a deep breath. Time seemed to go into slow motion. She glanced around and saw her teammates cheering wildly from the sidelines. Just behind the basket she looked for her parents sitting in their usual seats in the parents section of the stands. She focused on her father. She remembered all of the hours he had spent with her in the front yard shooting baskets. She thought about all of the basketball games he had missed while he was in prison and also the fact that he had never missed a single game since he had been back home. She also remembered the way he had overcome every adversity to provide a good home for her and her mother.
She knew that she was Jack Crews daughter and had to live up to his reputation of going straight ahead for what he wanted and needed and what was best for his family. With these thoughts in mind, Tracey blocked out everything except the basket. She dribbled once and sent the ball sailing towards the hoop. Swish! The crowd erupted into wild cheers.
The Muskateers hadn't won a championship game in the history of the small school and they were up against a much larger school from Newark for the New Jersey state basketball championships. This was history in the making for tiny Milburn. A true David and Goliath story. One more shot to go. One more time she rehearsed in her mind all that her Dad had shown her about shooting free throws. She dribbled the ball twice. Took aim. The ball sailed towards the basket. She was afraid her shot was too strong. She held her breath. You could hear a pin drop in the stadium. The ball hit the backboard solidly, bounced off and hit the front of the rim. It spun around the rim and hung on the edge. It could fall either way. But then some kind of stronger force seemed to push it towards the net and the ball finally went through the hoop. The team swarmed the floor.
Tracey was lifted onto her teammates shoulders as the crowd screamed their excitement and appreciation of the team's great victory. Tracey's eyes sought out her father's in the stands. The pride that she saw shining in his eyes made every minute of practice, every sacrifice worth while. Jack Crews' daughter had demonstrated the kind of nerve and skill that her father had always modeled for her.

Kevin gave a hearty laugh and replied with: "We had a great time working together. I always stress chemistry with my cast. And, this was one of the best chemistries I've seen on a set. Everyone got along very well - they were supportive of each other. And, I think that's one of the things that made Randy Travis so comfortable in his role. I can't keep up; I stopped counting the number of practical jokes Patrick Swayze would play."
